  1. Maybe I am wrong, but don't the corps have to be invited to attend a show by DCA and/or the host? $20 is not a lot to ask for entry. I've noticed the dca shows have been adding whats seems like more additional "exibition performances" such as Alumni performances, local HS bands, local JR's that may be in the area (ie Raiders, Jersey Surf) and your occasional appearance by the USMARINES which can add to your package. I wish DCI & DCA (east coast) could work together to combine some more shows.
  2. edit.... duh, forgot there is a time difference involved here on the east coast. any scores yet?
  3. Sabre Invest the extra money for the KING. RIFLE From what I knew. George Miller's other son was taking back the company from his brother and bringing the "REAL" Ultimate's back. go here for more information http://georgemillerandsons.com/index.html
  4. Go ahead and reuse it. If music was to be used only one time we would all be in trouble when it comes time to pick our shows. You may be able to find a different version on the song also if you wanted to change it up a little. I have seen colorguards use the same music in (or portions of) in different shows within the same group. If you feel you can make it look different then go for it. I've even seen visual designer bring an entire concept, music and equip work and teach it to a whole different group.

  7. I was 34 when I marched Black Watch in 2002. GO BLUE HAIRS! LOL There were members half my age I thought were gonna fall over after a whole day of rehearsal. Then we would come home sew flags, shower, change and go out dancing until closing. A few hours of sleep and back to rehearsal. (Monday morning at work was not so pleasant though) Good thing for the "over 30 vitamins" better known as ADVIL. Glad I had the opportunity to do it!

  10. Noted, but pehaps their chance just has not come.... YET! I say keep working hard, attracting better staff and talented members and anything is possible. When you look back at some of the 80's finals standings, some of today's better corps were also clawing their way through the mix to be recognized. Yes it is sad that some organizations just can not get over that hump and really push forward. Even more upsetting is when someone moves up because someone else had to fold. Credit for every ball of sweat and dissapointment truly is due, because thats what helps to build the pride they will earn when/if they finally do get over that hump. Everyone has to start somewhere, taking the long road or the short road should all point to the same destination for everyone.
  11. I think MBI or Renegades could both be contenders if it was possible for them to go head to head in the same show with some of the east coast top 5 more often. With DCA mainly based on the east coast, wouls be interesting to see the reaction if a corp came in and won only appearing at championships. I personally would feel a little cheated that i didn't get to see them more often. I guess its why I look forward to seeing MBI & 'Gades even if once a yr. Ive been waiting for MBI or Renegades to really start that push into the top 5 on a more regular basis. It seems like DCA has a turn over about every 5 yrs or so with the top 3. I remember being shocked in 2002 saying wow when was the last time Cabs were not in the top 5 or top 3 for that fact? Nice to see Hurcs better and making their move again back up. Always great to watch how corps rise and fall and how long they can hold their status to claim that nitch in the history books. In all forms of competition; sports, politics, drumcorp etc., the underdog always gets the better of the crowds respect to react and root for them. Everyone gets their chance, but its how long it lasts that is the exciting aspect of it all to be seen as a powerhouse corps rather than a flash in the pan (or as some say 1 hit wonder). You must have "agony of defeat" before you can begin a new dynasty. Lets not forget, what goes up must come down. Cabs, Sunrisers, Bush, Briggs, Empire, Bucs (wish Westshoremen were able to hold on longer) Unless Bucs start to decrease their momentum looks like Blue&Black at the top again (at least for this yr) thoughts, reactions, comments, arguments?
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if she turned around at the end of their performance and pulled out a roll of tickets from her pocket and yelled out 50/50 anyone? LOL Afterall everyone would see her then. GO CECILY! (certified winner of one of her big takes $256 at an indoor chapter's show)
  13. Are you really surprised? Afterall it is DCA. Lets see if the actual outcome is comparable. Who is the person that updates the DCA website anyway? (when they do) I hope its not a tabulator. LOL
  14. From my friends on the east coast, it sounds like their guard could hold their own with several of the DCI teams. Kudos to the Hurcs! This is definately the best I have seen the Hurcs in a while, (horns, drums & guard) but its definately not a DCI guard. GOOD JOB handling that wind though tonight in Clifton it looked pretty gusty out there fro many of the early performances. A few tosses were taken right to the ground. Really a bummer to work all day and have those conditions for the performance. I believe Hurcs took guard by only a few tenths tonight over Bucs (.3?) and Hurcs are spinning beginning to end. Although some of it looked like filler work to me. Bucs still have some sections they are not spinning at all on the field. Will be interesting once everyone's show is finished and cleaned. I see CABS guard was wearing what looked to be recycled uniforms from the past. I guess all the talk on here got to them. Didn't get to see the original uniforms but what they wore tonight looked good. This was a great show to see these corps on the same field. Can't wait to see where Renegades and Minnesota slip into.
  15. Since Bucs had to leave right after the show, I bet Bridgeport went crazy for the BARNUM FESTIVAL when HURCS led off the parade today. When was the last time that has happened. MAG7 was probably blasted all the way down the route LOL
  16. nevermind, I just saw the recap..... Micky Kelly congrats Hurcs with guard Congrats Bucs on your win
