  7. ANYONE TRAVELING FROM THE NORTH (NH - MA - ETC)?
  8. The 2008 season will be my "Rookie" AND "Age-Out" year... What is the likelihood of the extension being passed? My 22nd birthday is in January 2009 - Would I be eligible for a second season?
  9. DAVE GRIST JOINS MANAGEMENT TEAM East Coast Jazz welcomes Dave Grist of Rhode Island who will serve in the capacity of Corps Director/Tour Director for 2008. Dave is a long time drum corps fan who has striven to develop a junior corps in Rhode Island. Given the opening available on the management team of the East Coast Jazz, and his desire to see this world champion caliber drum corps back on the field, Dave decided his efforts could best be put to use assisting Tom Chopelas with the revival of The East Coast Jazz. Grist will be responsible for much of the day to day operations of the corps and will be on tour with the Jazz in 2008 managing the activities of a DCI touring drum corps. "I am very enthusiastic about the East Coast Jazz and will dedicate my energies to the revival of this wonderful drum corps", said Mr. Grist. PLEASE REFER TO THE ORGANIZATION WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION AND UPDATES. (http://www.eastcoastjazz.org/index.html)
  10. I apologize to all those DCP members who feel that as the DM I "jumped the gun" My experiences outside the Drum Corps realm have afforded me the knowledge neccessary as a leader and effective manager whether on or off the field. Through all the doubt and pre-cautions I ask for your continued support for the organization...
  11. Hello All, First THANK YOU for your support...I am REALLY excited about this season. So many questions have been thrown my way the past couple of days... I will answer each post and all questions as answers become available - continue to check the website regularly as our main goal is to show members and supporters - PROGRESS. Please let me know any other questions - or if you would like more information about membership into the East Coast Jazz. I look forward to meeting each of you...
  12. Hello EVERYONE, As the "We got a new Drum Major" (In reference to the above comment about the recent press release) I can assure all members on Drum Corps Planet that Tom Chopelas (Executive Director) - The Board of Directors - and Myself are working VERY hard to address ALL the "questions and issues" you expressed. The press release was sent to provide members (Past - Present & Recuits) and supporters with the one thing they want and quite frankly NEED the most right now...PROGRESS. Look for staff announcements to be made VERY soon on the website The OPEN HOUSE dates/times have been posted PRIOR to the DM announcement on the website and now includes ALL neccessary information for prospective members concerning that weekend. I am not certain what is refered to when it was stated "Old stuff to be handled" - but it should be realized that NO business (For profit or Non-profit) can operate or succeed without first satisfying all required outside obligations It is most important to all of us working at ECJ to show effective and efficient progress - as this is going to be a long and tough battle to rebuild the organization into the powerhouse it once was - but we are driven - we are focused - and we are committed to doing all that it takes! I understand MANY of you have seen similiar situations in years past with various corps and I also understand because of that you may be very skeptical of the "return" - HOWEVER moreso than all the money and equipment in the world - a truly dynamic corps is driven by one thing - SUPPORT. We may not all agree on everything that is posted (Whether is be true or false) but certainly as individuals we can agree to disagree. Any questions concerning the organization may by directed to me and if I don't readily know the answer I will certainly work to get a clear conclusion. I would ask everyone that from THIS DAY as we continue to show PROGRESS - you show...SUPPORT.
  13. "Tom Chopelas [Executive Director] has announced the selection of Robert Coleman of Richmond, VA to be Drum Major of The East Coast Jazz. Coleman, a fourth year student at Daniel Webster College in Nashua NH, is an aviation major who eventually plans to practice as an aviation attorney. The new Drum Major is a 2004 graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School (Richmond, Virginia). He has many years of music experience including conducting various instrumental and choral ensembles along the east coast." Hello EVERYONE, I am excited that the East Coast Jazz will be returning to the field for 2008. It is an honor and priviledge to hold such a vital role in the organization at such a crucial point in its hisotry. We are working hard to release staff announcements and information about the upcoming season within the next couple of weeks! Please continue to check the website: www.eastcoastjazz.org for updated information - and I will try to keep this post as current as possible. ANYONE interested in becoming a part of the organization can find OPEN HOUSE dates/times/locations on the website - Again do not hesistate to contact me with any questions or more information about joining.
