  1. 1996 baritone, here. There's nothing I could have done personally, but I always die a little inside when I think of the tear. This was my only marching year, also. The Red Pony tear happened because of the bass drum placement and soprano placement. That specific tear happened at least once, I think about two weeks previous at a Hershey, PA rehearsal. We could speculate all day long about what would have happened had the tear not happened, but it wouldn't change it. I like to think we would have won...
  2. ####.....glad I didn't buy this. I'll watch semi's again, lmao.....
  3. Synths, and artificial instrumentation/samples should go away. That said, I don't mind things amped up front. Some corps shows would do well with a bass guitar in front ensemble....not to double the contras, but as it's own part, and not used constantly....like the miced drum sets are utilized today. PS: Imagine of samples were available for use in 1991. The classic, and creative helicopter, and battle sequences from SCV would have been pretty boring. Stormworks Crown 95, I think? Hearing the audience gasp and talk about the way they created those sound effects with instruments/buildingmaterials/auto parts is much more satisfying than the sound effects loaded into an SPD-S.
  4. This is actually correct. Fires happen periodically to clear out the thick underbrush, and the trees survive. The reason wildfires happen today is the underbrush is overgrown because of a lack of healthy burning that occurs naturally.
  5. This was toward the end of tour, but I held my horn up for two hours during ensemble rehearsal once. We were having a bad regearsal and the staff didn't have anything constructive to say and it ###### me off. People tried to talk to me to see if something was wrong, etc. Max it out, tough it out, do a couple pushups to work the lactic acid through your muscles, it helps. I played baritone, and euph players have big balls, imo!! Let em hang and just RELAX. I can't stress that enough. Force yourself to relax. When you think of how heavy it is, it becomes heavier!
  6. The Baritone soloist right before "Hoedown" in Cadets in 1996......I keed, I keed. That was me!!
  7. Just read this myself. As an alumnus, all I want is for them to go back to the real uniform, and have Cadets2 wear possibly the "Demon" color scheme. Either way, The Cadets need their traditional uniform back.
  8. And what's the deal with the rules against "buzzcuts"?? Someone told me I couldn't buzz my hair with a number 2, and I did anyway, I never did see what the big deal was?
  9. In The Cadets, it's clean-shaven males, and short haircuts for guys. Girls always wore a tight bun, with the rest of the hair sprayed down with loads of hairspray, or gel. It's called "show-hair".
