  2. Strange to see so many say "go a little further than Capital Regiment and do Glassmen" and yet no one says "go a little further than Capital Regiment and do Bluecoats" ... There -- I said it!!
  3. http://s984.photobucket.com/albums/ae321/B...masCard1997.jpg there's a link ... but how to put the photo here on the page ... sorry I'm an Internet idiot ...
  4. Anyone ... anyone ... wish I knew how I could post the photo from my computer ...
  5. So I was going through some boxes while moving recently and found a Christmas-themed post card that DCI sent out in 1997 with the dates of the 1998 major regionals on the back. I don't have a scanner and thus can't put one on here ... anyone????? It said "Ladies Dancing, Lords A Leading, Pipers Piping, Drummers Drumming." It was a cool card, but the best part was that at the time, I was a small-town newspaper sports editor and one of the people on the card was a friend of mine from that small town and marching in the same corps I marched in a few years before. I convinced the editor it was worth a small story and we ran a photo of the card and a little story about the guy on the front page of the paper. My friend and I talked about all of this earlier this week after I found the card -- he not only still has several of the cards but also a copy of the article. His name is Jeremy Hunt. He is the "Piper Piping" on his soprano for the Bluecoats. Next year, he will be the Visual Caption Supervisor and drill writer for Spirit after being the drill writer for Colts the last two seasons and Visual Caption Head at Madison for a couple years before that. If anyone has can post the photo card on here, please do. It would be interesting to know who the other people are -- one guard girl from somewhere, one guard guy I think from Magic maybe, Jeremy, and an SCV snare drummer -- and what they were doing these days. Hey -- it's close to Christmas. Let's see where this topic goes ...
  6. I'll bite ... with no real information to go on ... 1 - Cadets ... just a hunch 2 - SCV ... been headed that way 3 - BD ... this is LOW for them 4 - CCrown ... one tiny step "back" isn't a big deal 5 - Bluecoats ... continue to improve visually 6 - Cavaliers ... small fall for now 7 - Phantom ... may be hard to get back up there 8 - Madison ... big first year with new staff, bigger future?? 9 - Blue Stars ... continue establishing themselves 10- Boston ... being down here shows depth above them 11- Blue Knights ... don't have anything to say for them 12- Spirit ... just a hunch, again 13- Troopers ... just miss, which isn't bad 14- Glassmen 15- Crossmen 16- Academy 17- Colts
  7. Don't think I saw this anywhere else on here ... http://www.bluecoats.com/dci_staff.asp Pretty much the same staff that ended last year with a couple additions. What say you, DCP????!?!?!?
  8. One thing I do know about Cesario from his days with my corps back in the mid-90s is that he contributes a lot to the corps he's working with from his own pocket. I think drum corps is more a "break-even" kind of thing for him -- not a money-maker where he makes "Cesario-type cash." Yes, Hunt and Cesario have worked together a lot in the past, but I don't think they're a "package deal" like others suggested. Jeremy has done a lot to get himself to this point and he's got a bright future. And a cute wife ... and his Mom isn't too bad either ... but that's totally off topic!!!
  9. The Colts were done in more by their music and "concepts" the last two seasons, I do believe -- even though they were cool shows. Jeremy's drill was effective and fit into what they were doing. And he's a BIG reason that Crown, Glassmen, Madison and Colts all advanced as far as they did in the years he was there. Not only writing the drill but having a big say in the staff that teaches that drill will help with Spirit. Jeremy's going to do fine. Besides, I taught him all I know ... ... and look where he's taken it!!!
  10. Off topic for clarity ... Wasn't Bill Polian. He was GM of the Buffalo Bills when they moved. The current owner's name is Jim Irsay, I believe, and I think it was his father who owned the team at the time of the move. Back on topic ... great show!! Good for the marching arts!! The one on Gretzky was great too!!
  11. As long as Doug and Dave -- the lovable Canadians!! -- and the rest are in charge of the brass line, they'll be OK!!! And great to listen to!!!
  12. Mostly the same, adding one new face to help with the CG design ... keeping drill writer who was already on staff but took over writing in May just before season started!! http://www.bluecoats.com/news_detail.asp?news_id=305 Thoughts?
  13. Wait -- didn't the stadium just open? Just clarifying. Maybe have Quarterfinals on the big screen??????
  14. Aren't there big "windows" on the sides of LOS? It seemed to me that they were open for a preseason game I noticed on TV recently. Were they open during Finals week? If I'm right and there are windows and they were closed -- what do you think would happen if they were open? Would the sound/atmosphere be any better??
  15. I just like everyone talking about the Bluecoats!!! My vote ... Twenty-ten.
  16. Nothing like parking lot performances ... no place to plug anything in!!!!! Great job, Trooper!! Great job, Fred Morris from an old Bluecoats friend!!!!
  17. Yankees and Red Sox scoreless into the top of the 12th!!!
  18. Forgive if this has been discussed before ... anyone know if the videos of tonight will be available on the Fan Network after tonight??? My corps ... my Bluecoats ... just as the assistant conductors were about to take the uni off the DM on the podium ... my computer decided it needed to reset "something" and start buffering and FN froze until just before the start of SCV. No other issuses all night, though. Great broadcast so far ... even sounds great, despite all the nay-sayers yesterday!!
