  1. Muwahahaha, how many of you here can say you started a topic that led to 30 pages? I'm the King of DCP!!!
  2. I say bring back the PBS broadcast. I need my Cesario quotes!!! One broadcast was good for the entire year. Who's with me here!?!?!
  3. I meant nothing in the sense that the corps was having extreme hardships for awhile (ie, "nothing") and have come back to be a legitimate contender this year. Their program can only flourish from here. I would say with the talent and instructors they have it would only be a few years before we saw Revolution in Div I. Anyone familiar with the corps? Do they have a close relationship with one another or is it "The Magic" effect? Is the Board spending happy or are they more for controled growth?
  4. I think you need to read the Rockford Rag a little more. You'll probably change your thoughts on that afterwards.
  5. Pirates just might work. There is some good stuff in there. Either way though a pirate show would rock in '07! YARRRR!
  6. Hmm, isn't it more expensive to purchase G bugles than it is to buy Bb? Either way, its amazing what Revolution has managed to do over the years. Go all the way from nothing, to knocking on the doors of Div I, back to nothing. Hopefully they'll be knocking again in a few years.
  7. But if DCI were anything like UFC . . . SCV's cymbal line would eat all of DCI alive. They would win it every year from now until eternity.
  8. Didn't Stewart send all the non-speaking English speaking members to critque once? Here is an idea. Cadets did West Side Story in '84, '94, and then thought about doing it in '04. Scouts did a pirate show in '97 so maybe they should follow suit with a pirate show in '07. Pirates of the Carribean anyone? Boerma would do an amazing job. I just know it!
  9. Their lack of narration during the show has sunk the corps for this season. (just couldn't hold back)
  10. I take issue with that in the sense that if you pay to go to a show yet you still complain about what you saw there, are you not contributing to the thing that you despise by purchasing that ticket. In the eye of the corps you paid to see the corps but yet you complain. Your dollars for that show further propels the use of amps or anything else you can't stand to be in drum corps. Remember, actions speak louder than words.
  11. Are they really using two valve horns this year?
  12. Jim, I was alluding to the fact that from your sig you obviously have a lot of involvement with drum corps. You make your views known not only here but also through the corps that you teach which allows you to say anything you want when it comes to this forum. Many people here are no longer actively involved with corps and DCP tends to be their only involvement. This is sad because arm-chair quarterbacks never won the Super Bowl as the saying goes. Hopefully this clarifies some things.
  13. Where can you get beer at a drum corps show? I know Regiment has the beer tent but you're not allowed into the stands with it. There may be a road trip involved next year if beer is allowed somewhere.
  14. Maybe dues won't be so high anymore. Plus, you might get a good student discount.
  15. There's a bit of a rivalry involved there too. Gotta take that into account.
  16. Kusankusho, if you don't like the situation then do something about it. Thankfully you do but many do not. If you choose to not do anything about it then you have no room to criticize something you are not even involved with.
  17. I don't know if it was more heartfelt because of the underdog aspect. I think it was just because this show is that amazing. My favorite this year, by far!
  18. Honestly people, we've gotten way off track here. I just figured some were getting a little too negative about a few things. Just tone it down a little and all will be well. Drum corps is here to stay and changes do happen. Not all changes are good but this activity will be around for many years to come. For example, the amps are here and we're just trying to get used to them. They are being used in drastic ways now but that doesn't mean they always will be. When done tastfully the amps adds another layer of sound we can all enjoy. Same with the Cadets. Not a huge fan of everything they are doing but their drumline, hornline, and guard are definitely diamonds in the rough. They are smoking. Just chill out and know that your activity is in good hands.
  19. Also have to add in that REO Speedwagon is from DeKalb. Flame away!
  20. Rockford knows its drum corps and rock and roll mind you. My father saw Styx at Boylan High some 35 years ago when Tommy Johnston had just joined the group.
  21. Again, it was the staff so it had to have been planned. Maybe they are hoping people will take notice of this and start doing it at shows. You know, crowd involvment type thing.
  22. Coltsdad, I think you will get a better response if you call. DCI Offices-630-628-7888 I would say DCI would definitely care. Who knows, if you play your cards right you might get a free APD. Now I know that won't take care of the fact that you missed your child's performace, but it might make up for it a little bit. (Can you tell I've worked retail for far too many years?)
  23. I was only 4 rows up. It was a group of staff members that yelled so I would say it was planned.
  24. You remind me that every East-coaster thinks they are better than us corn-growing, tractor driving, hillbillies. How can people on the east coast honestly think we're ALL farmers?
  25. Did you try calling the DCI offices? I'm sure they would want to hear this.
