  1. I have loved, absolutely loved, the Cadets for over 25 years. Loved them the first time I saw them. Several years I was in denial when they didn't win. Can't remember a year that I didn't think they had a chance. euponitone -> This is not as much a rip on Cadets, like the other threads, as it is a startling realization and a new appreciation for a corps. I don't take this switch lightly. SteenAZ -> Sure I like a lot of corps, even have revolving favorites depending on the season but my love for Cadets was ingrained in my being, everything about them, I loved. I used to get giddy just seeing the pit cart come out of the tunnel.
  2. Hello, my name is monkeytime and I am a recovering Cadets fan. Seriously, I am a Cadet fanboy. Two years ago I questioned it, last year annoyed me, this year has me completely disappointed. Within the first minute I was holding my head in my hands and wishing it would just stop. I don't come to drum corps shows to be hit with whining and condescension. I think Mr. Hopkins is trying to use his corps like Woody Allen uses movies, as a kind of therapy for some seemingly guilt complex. Please go to therapy but let drum corps be drum corps. I will appreciate all the things done by the members of the corps, the marching, the playing and the other amazing aspects but I will not listen to a whiny 8th-grade level script being acted out poorly. This is supposed to be a professional level performance. If I wanted to see a middle-school play I would go to my kid's school and watch the latest performance of HMS Whiny Teenager. --- Out of all the corps I have seen this year two have popped out at me as being what I consider great drum corps, Crown and Blue Stars. While Crown has been on the scene a little longer in terms of recent finals history and I do enjoy their shows a whole bunch I am going to strongly place my souvie purchasing $ with the Blue Stars. This is a young corps in terms of being back in World Class with a Top 6 show design and they have all the elements of a great up and coming drum corps. This corps is going places. In fact they have already come a long way. I am going to hitch my wagon to these stars and if they continue on their current trajectory they may once again find themselves a contender on finals night. So all you fans out there that may be looking for a new home, come with me, cheer on the newest member of the top 12 (please, please, please) and become part of something truly wonderful. My new favorite corps, the Blue Stars.
  3. Sure there is. Scout's are a mess. I hope they can clean it up. I don't get the show, it doesn't make any sense and the execution is being hurt by the poor design.
  4. The point is that you can't swing a dead cat in the forums without hitting a topic or post commenting on Cadet's show.
  5. From a live viewing of Phantom (kind of low): snares -> acceptable, not as good as their Pearl sound from last year, I think their snare sound the previous two years was probably one of the better snares sounds I have ever heard quads -> they had quads? I couldn't hear them, no projection basses -> OK, but again not as great as their Pearl sound Overall not bad, pretty good actually except for the inaudible quads. But they sounded 'that much better' the previous two years.
