Oh My! Do you REALLY want me going there? Now remember, this was back in the day when you actually had to do guard work (I'll hear about that I'm sure). Guards were the section you wanted to mess with the least, cause they'd kick your ###! In consideration of the fact that there were more guard chicks than horns chicks, it stands to reason that there might be MORE good looking guard chicks. As far as quality, I'd have to go with, drum roll please.............................................. Though they were far and few.................................................................. Well, it seemed that guard chicks hung out with drummers and brass chicks with brass players. Though during my career, I went out with chicks from each section, EXCLUDING the drumline chicks. As far as cymbal players getting chicks, God I hope not, all of ours WERE CHICKS! Rocketman - (no wonder there weren't enough to go around, the cymbal line took them all) ampssuck

Not to be self serving but, I wish they were coming back as a senior corps. The demands of time and $$$$$$$$$$$ make the venture into junior corps all the more risky. Heck, senior corps ain't no walk in the park either! Besides, I'd actually consider making the drive! Rocketman - Saw the Kingsmen in '72 about 15 minutes from my house. AWESOME! ampssuck

LancerLady and Felix: Here's what I can tell you about that show that should pretty much be all you need to know. When we got to the parking lot, pretty much everyone was asking "what happened?" We had some bad phasing, blown sets, poor intonation, just to name a few. To my recollection, no one was celebrating the performance. The staff was also ###### off, and just told us to "shut up!" When they announced our score, we were in a complete state of shock. I believe there were many of us who though we MIGHT score in the high 80's (89 or so). That's how bad it was to us. The only bigger shock was, again, finals. When we got to the parking lot after that show, it was completely opposite of the day before. We figured if we got a 91.50 for the "turd" we left on the field the day before, we were looking at an easy 92.50. Alas, t'was not to be. Rocketman - Truth seeker ampssuck

Mom: I don't recall if it was 77 or 78 but, that had nothing to do with our poor preliminary performance in 78. It just SUCKED! Rocketman - Can we go again? ampssuck

I can confirm for you that we were not undefeated going into finals. Madison beat us early, Sprit beat us at Mid-West Prelims, and BD beat us at Showdown and US Open. Rocketman - setting the record straight ampssuck

legend: In a bit of irony, after the failure of my SECOND corps, I had narrowed my choices for 1976 to Regiment and Blue Devils. I sent a letter to Regiment first and figured if the didn't get back to me or didn't have any spots, then I'd contact Blue Devils. Just think, my signature could read as follows: 1973 - Pittsburgh Rockets - Defunct 1974-75 Sharpsburg Cadets - Ditto 1976-79 Blue Devils - Three Time DCI Champion Best of all, I could have marched with a Legend! As I stated, percussion was our downfall. We were down by .25 in brass, up by .30 in marching, but those could not compensate for a minus 1.1 in percussion. Rocketman - Dang Drummers! ampssuck

Felix: Speaking from remote experience, I would wager that, ask any Regiment alum from '78, and they would probably admit that prelims was an unmitigated disaster. That is why the results of finals was so astounding, to us anyway. We knew that prelims to finals were night and day performances and to improve a scant .05 just seemed unrealistic. DANG IT FELIX!
