I think I almost wet myself with glee when i saw 12 FRIGGIN TUBAS (well, I thought contras, but I'm an old fogey like that). I don't think we had that many sopranos the last year I was there. Glad the see the corps is back in a big way.

Summer of '98.... I can't remember the exact place, but for some reason Iowa comes to mind. Before the show as we were stretching we quickly came to realize the place was crawling with spiders... needless to say stretching quickly moved from the grass to concrete so we could at least see the buggers coming.. Later at retreat, after we were put to parade rest, a spider proceeded to spend the majority of retreat crawling on my face. I don't know if i was more worried about it biting me, or crawling up my nose. Eventually it went on my scalp and i couldn't feel it after that. I shook my uniform out extra well that evening.

Would that technically be a woodwing "Back when I was your age, our kazoos were pitched to G"

I never saw it for myself, but some of the staff who had marched in years prior would tell us of a DM who carried a BB pistol in the holster. He'd occasionally shoot someone in the rear just to see of they'd move out of parade rest.... Of course, they didn't :D God, I miss those days...
