  1. A little "Dark Side of the Moon" By Pink Floyd End it with "Baby got Back" (I like big butts). By Sir Mix-a-Lot
  2. My son marches WGI Precussion. Used to want to march DCI but after talking to instructors and members thinks perhaps not. Dosent want to march all year like he would if he marched DCI. He has tons of friends who he hangs with in summer. We also take our vacations in the summer so he would have to give up alot of important things to do DCI. Wgi however is in winter. Its local. Its far less expensive. Its parts of 3 or 4 days per week. Its extremely intensive and you march only with fellow percussionists. He also far prefers indoor marching vs outdoor (says the seats are much closer)
  3. I hope that DCI avoids WGI's influence. I would not like to see WGI take a step....Back. Lets keep it apart so DCI dosent pollute WGI. Im sure no one will be upset about so many WGI drummers being on DCI corps.
  4. Yes, i like pro football....But its still just football, only on a higher level You like drum corps...But its still Marching Band, only on a higher level. Understand the point im trying to make?
  5. I dont like HS fotball, but I like Pro football. (get it now???) Like I said, get over yourselfs.
  6. You need to post this on drumlines.org. that is the real drummers site. I know theres a few Florida based drummers on there.
  7. Jeeze people, get over yourself already. In the short time ive been on these forums this has been addressed several times already. Why the need to make drum corp something its not. ITS MARCHING BAND. Ask anyone else in the world and they will tell you its a MARCHING BAND!!!. Only those who have a idea who DCI is will know the difference. Its like football. We have peewee, high school, college and Pro. Pro is the best, but its all football. Its like baseball. W have peewee, high school, college and pro. pro is best, but its all baseball. Are ya following me here people?? Get it now? DCI is the "pro" version of marching band. Now get over yourselfs and do something constructive, like who's next years favorite.
  8. No. The very best precussionists will be doing WGI so another "group" would have to use "2nd rate" percussionist. Distance. How far are you willing to travel to be in an indoor DBC? Sound. My sons in WGI as a snare. the sounds in some of the gyms are bad enough with just percussion add, in the rest and ^%$((**%^#. Are "qualified" horn players gonna march indoor after a season of DCI followed by Marching Band, followed by indoor? The following that WGI has is already limited. Mostly parents, friends, family of the groups. Not a huge following for indoor by the general public. Sort of like for all drum corps. Having said all that im sure you can have a few "events" in certian citys and be able to cover costs, maybe, so im sure someone might try it. But long term not gonna work. Nor will it every "take off"
  9. I just got my copy of Percussion PIA and PIW. Came today.
  10. Man, I wish I could be there. Looks like I may not get to see a DCI show in person this year. Started a new job and hard to get time to do the DCI thing. And I would go with my son but he's at the H.S. Drumline practice til 9PM. He missed to many practices already. PS: CHSnare, what school is that? lots of CHS in Michigan! Did ya march WGI?
  11. ....And the Mona Lisa is just paint on a cloth. Look up ART in the dictionary.
  12. Percussion Scholastic World are the top of the High School groups.
  13. A big congrats to OC indoor for a great show. And congrats to my sons group, Farmington United for their 2nd place finish with a 93.725!!! Pretty good for a bunch of High School and Jr. High School kids!!!!
  14. Im hearing that Darthmouth has another great show this year. People who have seen it say its freakin awsome. So they sound like the fave. but there are some very good, really tough groups. Im just Happy to be going. Lets all pull for Farmington United in PIA. My kids in it!!!
  15. Next week. Whos going? Who are you with or who do you like? Im going to see my sons group, Farmington United Percussion in PIA. Also like NCA and ESF in PIW. And just looking to see 2 days of bad A55 drumming. Father Ryan, Darthmouth, RCC, RX,MCM, just a feast of percussion greatness
  16. WTG. OC!!! But remember, still 5 or 6 regional yet to go!!! Couple big regionals, Nashville, PA amoung others.
  17. The Troy Regional will be this Sat the 21th at Troy H.S.. Anyone besides myself going? My butt will be parked in the seats watching all my favorites. Rhythm X, Northcoast, and all the other groups. Anyone going? Anyone marching? if so, what group.
  18. Who, what group would we have DCI market to for more support? DCI has H.S. and College Marching Bands pretty well covered. Those kids pretty much know what DCI is about. Like I said pages ago, when i was at the DCI finals in Indy, I saw thousands of people in the stands. But in pretty much sure that 90+ percent of them were connected to drum corps in some way. Mothers, Fathers, friends, family, band directors, alumni. I think we all know that this was not the event of the year for the "General Public". And that was the Finals...our Superbowl....our World Series. Im not sure what was the real attendence for the Finals but at DCI's biggest single event...how many Mom and Pops from off the street just stopped in to see what this DCI-Drum Corps thing was about? Guess what I think is that thsi will never be an event for the masses. Matter of fact, the real supporters are the Marchers, friends, family, Alumni, sponsers and other related or associated groups. Question for everyone here: How many of us watch soccer? pro, high school or kids group? And by that I mean how many of us watch soccer for the joy of watching soccer? Not just cause our son or daughter is in it? Not many here watch soccer. Even tho it is the single most popular sport in the world. Think about it!
