  1. I've been told by members of the corps itself that it means "Shove it up their ***". It doesn't matter if we know it or not...it only holds meaning to those who marched that drum corps. Just like traditions in any organization...it only holds true value to those who were/are a part of the organization.
  2. Yeah, beginning of July, Crown was over even BD with their west coast inflated scores. It was like July 2nd and Crown scored an 83.6 or something. Pretty cool.
  3. The first one it suggests is correct from what I know.
  4. Yeah, anywhere in your body that you can feel, you have nerves. Mine happened to be in the center of the left portion of my upper back. It was a totally random pain, nothing in particular seemed to cause it, and nothing particularly seemed to fix it either. It felt like someone was stabbing a knife into a very small spot on my back. I just kept marching. Its okay though because I got another injury later that same week that took me out for the season. Edit*- by "okay" I mean that it was the most difficult thing I've ever had to do...leave drum corps, that is.
  5. The back pain you're referring to is a pinched nerve. I had the same thing happen this past summer. Its pretty much impossible to try and get rid of.
  6. I don't really think Cadets steal many of Crown's members anymore. Heck, I know quite a few Cadets have marched Crown these past 2 years.
  7. I think Crown definitely has the best videos, bar none. Box 5 Productions is a class company that knows how to make great videos.
  8. There are definitely pieces that they're playing that NO ONE has ever played in drum corps before. Not saying all of them have never been played, but, well, its not really a fair argument to suggest that they're "copying" other corps. Thats like saying that "X" orchestra is copying "Y" orchestra because "Y" orchestra played said symphony last concert season, I honestly think that argument is a load of crap. Oh, I'm excited though. I still stand by my comments. It will be hard to beat the Blue Devils.
  9. It doesn't matter how good Crown is, they have to beat out a lot of other very good groups. I think they can do it, but it won't be a cakewalk, thats for sure. I love that drum corps, but #### its gonna be hard to beat the Blue Devils. *Edit - That doesn't mean that DCP/drum corps in general isn't going to literally #### their pants when they hear what Crown is playing this year, but just because you're playing some ######, awesome music doesn't mean you'll win.
  10. You went to Oberlin? Awesome. And here I was thinking that no real musicians were involved in drum corps, you sir have proven me wrong! lol. I'm being sarcastic because all of my teachers want me practicing over the summer and doing stuff like Tanglewood over the summer instead of doing "that crap no one cares about" called drum corps. *Edit - Oh, and if I have to hear one more time how Bruckner 8 really is the Dark Knight theme, I think I may kill a small puppy.
  11. Its funny because anyone who has ever performed in J Birney knows how difficult it is to sound good in that place. That stadium really separates the boys from the men.
  12. Its so funny, both Regiment and Crown are playing stuff totally the opposite of what they usually do. Regiment is going with something maybe a little more light-hearted. And Crown...
  13. I really hope they can bounce back after last season.
  14. well, you could also make an argument that Crown would have been much further from Cadets if they hadn't been dumped on by the visual judges in finals. Its a moot point. Crown just happened to be a better drum corps than the Cadets this year. It doesn't mean the Cadets weren't good, in fact they were FANTASTIC, but Crown ended up beating them. Now, to see how this Crown MMX corps does against the Blue Devils. I'm so excited to see these two battle it out this coming season.
  15. Top 3: 1. Crown 2. BD 3. Cadets BD is incredible once again with a fresh, unique show concept and great execution. However, Crown comes out with a much improved guard and visual program and is smoking hot all the way through finals, and is finally able to overtake the Devils. Cadets are crazy good as usual, but just don't have enough "meat" in their program to quite make the jump over Crown/BD. I could see the third place corps getting above a 98 this year in finals. I could even see (especially after hearing about Crown's program this year and knowing how good BD always is) the top 2 corps both scoring above a 99. Not saying it WILL happen, but don't be surprised if it does.
  16. Neither of these corps are going to end up in 9th place?
  17. Yeah, there were ONLY 350 at camp. However, I know that there were (and I'm not exaggerating) 35-45 brass vets who couldn't come because of college football conflicts. There were also a whole slew (around 100) auditionees who couldn't make it for this and similar reasons.
  18. I doubt they are marching 20 tubas. Donnie isn't that stupid.
  19. Of course they are. Thats an additional 6+ hours of rehearsal.
  20. Contact Tim Snyder, head of Box 5 Productions, and ask him where you could get them.
