  1. I was at the Wichita show last night and I got to say that only two corps got a standing ovation, Troopers and Madison. That tells me something. I really enjoyed Madison's show and felt they were much more impressive than the Blue Knights. That's just my opinion. I just wish that everyone who thinks they know better than the staff at Madison would step up and help the corps, rather than talk about how bad they are and how out of touch the staff is. I say, keep goin' Madison, we really like your style.
  2. Galen, Thanks for your comments. They were greatly appreciated by those of us that were not able to see the show.
  3. Old enough to have marched with the Sky Ryders in 1956-1959. Enough said.
  4. The new closer for Madison is really powerful. WOW!!
  5. Okay, you've made your point. Please, let it go and get back on topic.
  6. This show touches almost everyone in the United States, vets, military, civilians and especially those of us that have sons and daughters in the military today. Only Madison can do a show like this and make it believable. I have to admit that I have tears in my eyes every time they play "You'll Never Walk Alone". It is a great tribute to our military and says a lot about the character of our nation. Placement be ######, this show is epic and I join Plan9 (another thread) in saying thank you to the Madison Scouts for having the courage to present it.
  7. Hey guys, it's a long road back. It's much easier to fall than it is to climb back up. Look at the progress in the past few years. Now is not the time to be discouraged, it's the time to throw ALL your support behind the Scouts. Madison has one of the top staffs in all drum corps and they are rebuilding in the right way. I don't believe for a minute that the Cavaliers will pass the Scouts this year. So - they end up in 6th or 7th. That's an improvement from last year and the year before. They are drawing more talent every year. Hang in there and drop that negative attitude. GO SCOUTS!!!!
  8. Different medium entirely. You are making a phony argument.
  9. Everyone has his own opinion. Maybe I'm just more of a drum corps purist than you are. We can agree to disagree.
  10. It's beyond my comprehension how Crown can be ahead of Santa Clara, and the Cadets for that matter. Too much voice. If it can't be said with the music, it shouldn't be said at all.
  11. After Madison and Phantom, the Bluecoats were a letdown for me. However, Santa Clara is coming up and they have a great show this year.
  12. Your corps director tells you to stay off of DCP so you won't say something stupid and embarras the corps. They don't like that type of controversy or problem. If you are a MM for a corps, you might take your director's advice. If not, fire away. We Madison fans are tough and have a bit of a sense of humor (until you start talking about Albert Lo and his judging).
  13. That coul be bad. I trust the staff to make the decisions though. They need the practice before tomorrow so tonigt is their run through and I believe they will bring the crowd to their feet.
  14. A little change to the closer, maybe? Or, are you going to make us wait until tomorrow to find out?
  15. The fact that Madison goes on earlier is problematic. If they judge the shows by level of performance rather than personal preferences then Madison should be ok. But, slotting is still in play and order of performance is definitely a form of slotting
  16. The biggest worry that I have with Madison is that Alber Lo is judging Music Analysis. Historically, he has not been very kind to the Scouts.
  17. I think that Madison, Phantom and Bluecoats will be within .5 of each other and it's anybody's guess in what order. This is a real dog fight.
  18. Sorry, it should have been 2011 with ESOM.
  19. What wuld you replace it with? In 2010, they did the same thing with ESOM and had the crowd going wild. I agree that some change is needed, and quite probably will come before Atlanta, but what? Madison is a corps that has always been upbeat. I would like to see something more dramatic, but not necessarily in the same vein in YNWA.
  20. I think that the performance order hurt Madison today, but that's how things go. Would like to say that my three favorites today were Santa Clara, Madison and the Troopers. Each of them have a show that is a reflection of their personality and they did well.
  21. Spirit has a pretty god brass line. Too bad they don't use it more.
  22. The drill is really in need of cleaning. Prettyrough.
  23. Music City has really improved from last year. It's really fun to watch a young corps grow. Good job.
  24. Got to hand it to those kids. They gave us the best they have. That's what drum corps is all about.
