  1. Oh really? He couldn't foresee "Stoned" was going to bring out the jokes? Laughable. The title is an obvious double-entendre He is probably planning a tied-dyed tour t-shirt. Mark my word - I know these folks.
  2. Not many. Now you go have your opinion on it, and I'll have mine. I won't call you "ridiculous" for having a different take on it. I want to see how this plays out. So far the jokes on here and the "encore" tune the Cadets are playing have me worried. And last time I checked that's allowed.
  3. I know what "Stoning" is. I said "i don't find all the drug jokes ON HERE "funny" -- and I also don't like "Stoned" as the name for a youth organization's program. Sorry - feeling so doesn't make me "ABSOLUTELY ridiculous"
  4. I really don't find all the drug references funny. God I hope they change the name. I lost my best friend to drugs. Still hurts. I may pull my donations if they don't change the name. I put up with Hopkins shoving his politics down my throat, but this one may cross the line (for this supporter) This is, first and foremost, a YOUTH activity. I don't think "stoned" is appropriate. Sorry.
  5. I'm pretty sure "stoner music" isn't "the theme" hahaha
  6. I agree on all this. The arrangement is too long, but clearly they already know that. Seeing what works in a "full" arrangement and then cutting what doesn't has always been a Cadet MO I also agree the music is "intriguing" - draws you in much better than the counting preamble of last year which should have been cut early season. Shocked they didn't. I also agree this style of music draws you in more than the Shostakovich tends too. But that's just a taste thing I guess?
  7. great to hear. Personally I thought the "opener" - which I'll assume is a prejudged "intro" is too long and plodding as it stands. I'm getting bit sick of all these extended preambles and "introductions to the theme" - Cadets and Crown (especially) have just run them into the ground. It was so COOL back in 1988 when Cadets did the moving preshow - because it was different. Now I went to a local band show and literally 90% of the bands there had preshow music and/or preshow electronics. How about starting when you start? sorry - I'm grumpy.
  8. well the uniforms are for C2 - so it wasn't a "loss" Uniforms can make a huge difference in terms of points GE and visual -- I'd go as far as to say Crown wouldn't have won in 2013 if it weren't for the "purple pants" (for example) BD is masters at this. Cadets not so much.
  9. EXACTLY. Except the Cadet uniform change was planned mid-winter - so it wasn't a "last minute attempt to get points" - it was a "planned attempt to get points" lol
  10. I will assume you mean "design execution" They were "cleaner" than 2 of the 3 corps ahead of them, so I guess you mean the staff.
  11. enough playing with the Cadet uniform. Either keep it as is and change the guard each year, or DUMP it.
  12. who said they are changing their uniforms?
  13. also been done by countless bands - I'm sure they music will be different - but I totally get the comparison. NOT an original concept for sure...
  14. hint: there's this little website called youtube - it gets many more views than DCI ever sold of DVD/BR/VHS etc...
  15. actually it is due to copyright law - which is "behind the times"
  16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1Arr03Kwag DCI Packing for Tour Video
  17. Oh those 2 at the DCI Premier event - which I guess will be in theaters.. that helps!
  18. Ouch! 2 of the top 4 aren't even scheduled until 7/18?? Hopefully they will add another early contest.
  19. This one is general for most, but also includes a few specific things for guard and/or Crown GREAT JOB by this member Anything else? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlJeMH0bjsA
  20. agreed - I rarely get "sensitive" about my hearing loss but I have at times. One occasion during a beer festival (indoors, lots of folks and loud music) I was having trouble hearing the conversation... One of the guys in my group started speaking loudly and using his hands to "mime" out the words, thinking it was so funny. I said "I'm actually deaf in one of my ears" and he thought it was still funny to keep going and going. ###### the #### out of me. I agree hearing loss sucks - totally suggest all the marching members consider this when thinking about ear plugs during rehearsal, headphone usage at other times. It really piles up over the years
