  1. That's nothing new. Star of Indiana had a tuxedo clad pit with a pink corps behind them (I suppose they thought that would class up the show lol). In 1988.
  2. So, you prefer it to be so difficult that it's kinda sloppy? Just wondering. The Blue Devils don't perform easy shows, never have, never will.
  3. Musicality is entirely subjective, particularly when you're not talking about the same exact piece of music. Could you say that Itzhak Perlman "plays much, much more musically" than Stevie Wonder

  5. Crossmen 92, with a backstory. That happened to be my age out year, but I was onto other things by that time. I could've easily jumped into the Crossmen line or Star of Indiana (had invitations from both, in fact), but chose to focus on school and teaching. I don't regret it horribly, as my corps experience was fantastic, but seeing that 92 show sort of made me a tad regretful to say the least (no particular opinion about missing out on Star, as good of a corps as they had that year...the X-Men show was something special though and imho the best Crossmen show ever).
  6. Well, aside from the fact that "overpriced" doesn't even make any sense...how do you figure that a corps with such an unparalleled record of world championships, consistently top ranked placements every single year, and more regional titles than you could even count up (far, far, FAR more than any other drum corps in the past 50 years anyway) pulls it off? How do they manage to snowball all those judges for so many decades? A vast, green-shirted conspiracy or something?
  7. You must be fairly young, since people were saying "they make it look so easy" a long ways back...and in those days, like 80's early 90's for example, there was nobody trying to prove that BD had a better visual program than say Garfield or SCV...noone. And yet "they make it look so easy" was often heard. Go figure.
  8. Ah, the myth of the "perfect score". No matter. An extra week is an extra week, to ramp up the performance levels even more and max out the GE. Like I said, the Blue Devils would make good use of it.
  9. Don't forget, that would give the Blue Devils another week as well. I'm sure they'd make good use of it.
  10. Even ContraRich will admit what a fiasco THAT was, and he was in a red uni that year and everything. (at least, he'll admit it if you get him drunk enough lol)
  11. Anyway, a win in the drums catagory would put BD up over Vanguard as winningest drumline in DCI history. Woot!
  12. That doesn't count. (I remember sitting in Thom Hannums living room mid season that year after he got back from the road, and he was joking about how nice it was to have a summer where there was no competition whatsoever )
  13. I've been around corps for a long time and it's been my experience that when people say that about BD, they are usually talking about the music, NOT the visual program. As in "wow, how can they play such incredible stuff and make it look so easy!". So I guess I'd have to disagree with your theory there (I won't disagree that the Devs are always SUPER clean though, it's one of the things I love about em!).
  14. Just curious, iirc the biggest spread on finals night was 82 BD, 1.7 over the Vanguard. Does anyone recall if any of the quarters/semis spreads were this gigantic? I wish I wasn't so far away this year, sounds like a fantastic year and the Blue Devils seem to be just tearing the competition to shreds! They must have an amazing show!
