  1. "Real Regiment" thread? I must have missed that one. If it means anything...all my posts have been in good fun.
  2. Wow...Brandon. Being that you marched with the corps (with me) I'd thought you'd have a different opinion. I feel....some how.....alone. oh Lord, what is I gone do.
  3. This contra player still believes in what he wrote. PLEASE realize that we're talking about CONTRA lines not BRASS lines. Because that is a TOTALLY different discussion. Also, realize that you just said that balance and tone won't get you very far. I didn't fault blue for having a great arranger. And yes, it is possible to have a challenging book, blend, balance, and tone quality. I merely said that coats don't have it. They might soon, but not now, and not so much in the past. Also, realize that I don't hate the coats....regiment is my alma mater and my favorite corps ever. I'm passionate about the corps and believe in everything that I say. I'm also confident that others agree with my words as well, so my bias is justified. Have a great day.
  4. No need to beg. Go ahead and differ. Won't hurt my feelings. Let's hear it.
  5. I was talking about sound quality......NOT sound quantity. Read again. Anyway, your point is invalid being that the poll is for 2007. Both Regiment and Coats have 12 this year. Actually, unless they've found someone Regiment only has 11 right now. I still thing that Regiment has a better SOUNDING Contra/Tuba line. Sorry...just my opinion.
  6. Ahhhhh!! Just pull out some recordings of Regiment....any of the 90's through today and turn the bass up. WALL OF BASS. Has nothing to do with the number of players. The coats have 12 this year. The Cavies usually march 12. The three years I marched we had 12.
  7. There's no CONTEST! Regiment does and WILL always have the better contra line. I've heard the bluecoats this year, and yes, they do have a few licks that aren't exactly easy....and I applaud them. Being a tuba/contra player myself, I always LOVE when the basses are featured. However, don't mistake a great arranger with a great line. I have no problem with the coats, but please realize that fast fingers will never replace the tone and overall balance that Regiment offers. Not to mention Regiment usually has two to three contra parts. AHHHHH!!! It's like an organ! Sorry for the rant...I'm just passionate. SUTA!!
  8. The only corps I've heard so far is PR. So, I don't think I have enough info to do a prediction, but I will say this. To make the beautiful sounds like the Regiment did this past weekend, even with 4 million brass, IN A GYM, is AMAZING to say the least. That ballad will be beautiful. Yet, another classic Phantom Regiment Moment. Ugggh.....I can hardly wait. On the fun side. I'm sure 2007 will be a shootout for the top 3 slots like it was in 06. Orrrrr at least I hope it'll be that way. Just for fun. 1. PR (they deserve another one) 2. Blue Devils (they're always dangerous) 3. Cavaliers (Another Innovative show) 4. Bluecoats (They're getting so good) 5. Cadets (I just figured they would be somewhere in here) 6. Carolina Crown (I think they will pull something out of their sleeves) 7. SCV (I don't know) 8. Scouts 9. Knights 10. Spirit 11. Boston 12. Glassmen
  9. Yeah, it WAS quite a bummer. I did check the disc, I found a small smudge. Hopefully, they won't skip. I'll have to check them out again tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.
  10. Is anyone having problems with their disc one skipping? Mine skips in the same place during the Cav's and Regiment's show. It's very annoying. <**>
