  1. Kevin, John and all of the people who have worked so hard to bring perfect commentary of this whole weekend. a Big well done and Thank you for putting in the effort so we all can enjoy the show.
  2. An escerpt from George's responce to Ken on Facebook: George Hopkins ‎@ken .... I hear you. We talked to the folks at DCA and they seem genuinely supportive. SO ... our plan is to play off the USSBA, work with local colleges and see if there is a market for weekend only drum corps. We would like to maintain ...the youth thing .... same rules and regulations as the Cadets. And if things to not shake as we expect, we could adjust -- but only by a few years. I know folks do it -- but we get a little nervous with 40 year olds and 16 year olds hanging out on the same bus.See More Wednesday at 2:18pm · So to clarify, his intent is to recruit from his own organization (USSBA) and get only the top performers (those he didn't keep for his world class corps) and stack the deck. not only is he taking away the level playing field for corps that are already struggling in the area who look to the high schools and collages for members as it is (Talking DCI here) but he is making it only one decision for anyone to go. it's Cadets or nothing. In his own letter to alumni members he quoted the buc's as a DCI corps, now i would excuse him on that one since i know he does have typo's from time to time but Mr Hopkins i ask you for once think about the corps around you in the DCI circuit who fight to field a corps every year and stop taking members who would not otherwise have the chance to do it just so you can afford another season of baseball tickets ro to fly to a meeting you could have just done over the phone. Oh and for record, these are my own opinions not of any organization or for someone else but as someone who has already been burnt by the fire caused by Mr Hopkins and his minions of YEA.
  3. It has been a while since i have posted in the threads but i felt it important to speak out on this one issue. I welcome anyone to read Georges posts on his facebook where he replyed that being in a DCA realm he would not only be able to put this said corps into DCI shows as well but he would be able to recruit from his own circuit (USSBA). Not to toot my own horn and belive me i am no fan of Mr Hopkins but he is looking to become a monopoly not just in DCI but to take control of DCA as well. Now lets put this all in prospective and to make it perfectly clear. the man who is making this proposal is also the author of last years big topic and something that should be fresh in everyone's mind, a little thing called the "G7" he lost credibility in DCI so now he sets his sight on DCA. Just something to think about while we all yell out about him building a corps out of the members he cuts from the world class Cadets, just so he can have a ready fit replacement when he loses members during the season.

  6. Glen, Very sorry for your loss. your words speak volumes to the very core of why most of us are doing what we do. Personally i have always felt that it is for the fans first then the judges and the score. I hope that in time people will remember where the real performances go to.
  7. All the best for a speedy return to the podium Mr Russo.
  8. It is with a heavy heart that the Board and managment of TSOP Inc. has decided to not field the Corps for DCA in the 2010 season. Reasons behind this decision is due to lack of membership to properly field a quality show in the DCA class of performance, We have all worked hard to try to put out a quality performance but the end result has been that it wouldn't meet the standards of what would be considered proper in the high paced top notch performance needed to compete. The Sounds of Philadelphhia are still working this season as both a Mini Corps as well as working towards the Arena Drum Corps Circuit as we will build towards the 2011 season. The entire TSOP organization as well as it's membership wish the very best of luck to all of the DCA Corps in the 2010 season, we also wish to thank the board of DCA and we will continue to work to bring the reality of DCA drum corps back to Philadelphia.
