  1. I was also not a fan of the guard uniforms at first. Although, they have grown on me and I am really starting to like them. I do think that they fit the feel of the show. I think that they may have been altered slightly over the season.
  2. Does anyone know where you can find a copy of the different judging sheets that this year’s judges actually use? I am interested in the vocabulary and the wording that the judges may be asked to use and evaluate with. I know that you can find the WGI sheets in the official percussion and color guard rule books.
  3. BD has a better written book (or more challenging). Vanguard is executing very well, but everyone is saying that they have an easy book. I think they make it sound easy. I am sure that they can beef it up. I also think that Vanguard’s show features the Drum Line a little too much, and may not help with the overall flow of the show. (seems like the show was written for or around the drumline) In other words it seems like a show written to win drums at the cost of the overall corp. I saw both lines in the lot, and BD had a lot more dirt, but they were attempting some crazy stuff. I could see it finishing close to last year in drums. 1) Vanguard 2) Cavies 3) Bluecoats 4) BD
  4. Really just want to see if anyone feels the same way. in the Bluecoats ballad they experiment with the quadraphonic stuff. They play it okay, but it is not very strong from a GE stand point. They kind of pass chords around the field, build chord pyramids, stagger phrases through the pods visually and musically. Different, but to me not effective. . Not trying to sound harsh, because I love Coars and they will be good this season.
  5. Dear Bluecoats, I want to love you, I really do, but with your ballad it's currently impossible. So here's a petition to bloo to change their ballad. How is it possible to compete with the other groups that have such luscious, beautiful moments. I understand the connections between music and visual during it, and I very much understand what you guys are trying to create there. The rest of the show has some great moments that can be competitive. Please don't try and fix it, just scrape it. It will be hard to get passed 6th with that moment. DangerZone
  6. Real quick guys, all drill was on the field for all corps but cavies. They played the last 30 sec. standstill.
  7. Quck note: was at the show tonight BD sounded amazing, and musically, what they are doing is the next level. They do not sound like a typical drum corps. Not sure what they sound like, but it is great. Maybe a organ-synth or an orchestra. Great balance you hear every part with great tone color and quality of sound. Visual they are nothing special from a design or execution level. The last fourth of the show needs work. The "golf clap" thing is a joke, and I am not the biggest BD fan.
  8. Fan favoritea were: 1) cavies 2) cadets 3) phantom 4) crown 5) bd 6) bloo 7) stars 8) scv The scores will probably be the same but with BD and Cavies switched
  9. Mainly based on my opinion of there music books I have heard at least 5 min of each show. (this is what I think could happen, not necessary what I would like to happen) I feel very confidant on 1 and 2 1) BD 2) Cadets 3) Bluecoats (??? not sure) 4) Cavies 5) Crown – book not yet what I expected (may opinion should change once I see the visual) 6) Phantom 7) SCV 8) Stars
  10. I have a strong feeling, especially after hearing their pre-tour recording that they will go undefeated. They already sound better than some of the top corps at finals last year.
  11. First Show 1. Blue Devils (undefeated season) 2. Cadets 3. Carolina Crown 4. Cavaliers (like last year a little weak out of the gate) 5. Bluecoats (learning new closer drill today, will be a little behind) 6. Regiment 7. SCV (percussion jamming, horns a little behind) 8. Blue Stars Finals 1. Blue Devils (undefeated season) 2. Cavaliers 3. Crown/Cadets 4. Crown/Cadets 5. Bluecoats 6. Regiment 7. SCV 8. Blue Stars 9. Madison 10. Blue Knights 11. Boston Crusaders 12. Academy
  12. Does anyone know the jobs of each of the corps at tour of champion shows? I heard Bluecoats may do a featured percussion performance/ warm up. I also think that Cadets will possibly play there arrangements of some “pop” music, and maybe some small ensemble stuff. Any word on the other corps, I heard that there may be a question and answer section or some show designer talk with staff? Also does anybody know if this process will happen at the first two Texas shows this coming weekend?
