  1. The new ending is fabulous! The old ending was fabulous! Crown's approach is special. I can imagine seeing them live must be an all encompassing experience. Not only listening and watching, but becoming the music.
  2. Okay now I HAVE TO go watch the 2007 show to check out the kid who got beat up but loved his trumpet!
  3. Vanguard hasn't been getting enough credit from the judges or joe six-pack.
  4. Quite a few. I am just a drum corps mom and I don't really get the way the scores work. But I did look at the recap and notice that there really isn't much difference between two judges in one category - except for the GE score for PR. What has PR normally been getting for GE visual?
  5. This is all going over my head. Can someone explain what exactly she did wrong. I keep reading about the comparison between PR and SCV. But didn't PR get a higher overall score tonight?
  6. SCV scored a 90.45 tonight in Massillon, Ohio. One point higher than the night before with the same panel of judges.
  7. At the beginning of the season they were advised not to read DCP. I hope they followed directions.
  8. It must be your connection because I just watched SCV and Crown and everything is perfect, sound and all! Try resetting your computer?
  9. I don't know, and I don't care, because my heart is with SCV. P.S. The Blue Stars have an amazing mellophone line!!
  10. That baritone player just recently arrived to fill a hole.
  11. Have you checked Teal Sound's website? It might give you an idea of the audition process is like. Because they are a relatively new world class corps I would suspect if you come with a great attitude and have good marching/timing abilities you would probably have a good shot.
  12. What instrument are you auditioning for?
  13. I re-watched their show on Fan Network and am really drawn to their guard. I know very little about guard but to me they have that *Blue Devils Guard* confidence this year!
  14. Anyone at this show tonight and know what time it begins?
  15. What time does the show start? I have a friend that lives in Centerville and I can't find the time on DCI.org?!
  16. Wow..thanks to everyone who responded to my post. You put into words what I can't articulate and gave me a lot of input I hadn't thought about before!
  17. My son has also found his home with Vanguard and is marching mello. I think I know who your daughter is, and if it's who I think it is, I admire her for how brave she is!
  18. I never marched drum corps, but I was involved in high school marching band and thoroughly enjoyed that. Marching band was my social life, it gave me a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of belonging. I had parents who, although financially well off, came to one home football game a year to watch us perform from behind the rear gate of the field because they didn't want to pay to get in. Even if it was only once a year, and they were standing behind a wrought iron fence to the rear of us, I still remember feeling that *buzz* inside, the excitement that my family was there. Now I am the single parent of a kid who I watched transform after he found his love and talent in music. If it had been theatre, art, sports, whatever, I would support him in doing that thing that makes him feel the most alive and gives him that sense of accomplishment and self esteem. I struggle financially, have learned to use coupons & live with less, so that my child could pursue his dream. He has given up every amount of Christmas and birthday money, given up getting a driver's license and car, a non replaced stolen Ipod & fancy cellphone, the prom and many other things to help pay for drum corps. We worked together and made it happen. He could have been a typical teenager and opted for the driver's license and car, the prom, and parties but he's not typical. My family thinks what he is doing is a waste of time. Hell, he could be taking summer classes, getting a job, preparing for adult life (in their eyes). I have tried explaining how important this is to him and how it will impact his future (he's a music major) to no avail. So I give up! My kid just thinks my parents and siblings are dream killers and says to best way to deal with them is NOT to bring it up. Has anyone else ever dealt with this? Either when they were marching or now with their child marching?
  19. The 5th bass (the biggest one) is out for the season. His foot has been bothering him a lot and apparently found out he has a fracture.
