  1. Hmmmmm.....A small parade corps from Long Island. Then you joined a "real" drum corps. I guess all the years some of us put into the "small" parade corps meant we never were in a "real" drum corps. Kinda remember the "Flames" as a #### good parade and exhibition corps that was well respected by many people. Maybe I should've let you keep your saxaphone instead of introducing you to what drum corps was all about back then, small local corps that were "feeder" corps for "real" drum corps. JJ
  2. Frankie, Who would have thought way back when you first started with the Flames that you would become one of the greatest soloists in Drum and Bugle Corps. I'm really glad you accepted my invite to come inside the firehouse to see what was going on the night I first met you. I have always been so proud of you, and what you have accomplished over the years. You really deserve this honor, and I'm sure Tommy feels the same way. Congrats, my friend........ B) Johnny
  3. I started in drum corps in 1962, at 14. I finally lived a life long dream and joined the Caballeros in 1999, at 51 !!!
  4. Good luck Eddie, I'm sure you will make a great corps even better. With the staff you have, great things will be coming in the future. And having Chris working with you is a real HOME RUN. In the time that I was with the Cabs, you were a big plus in helping me fulfill a lifelong dream, and you never gave up on me. For that, I am forever thankful. Best of luck, Goomba....... Johnny J. 5. b**bs Having known this family for MANY years, and watching all the kiddies grow up, I have to say that I am so proud of "Nickie". I saw many times while playing with Ralph and Holly, how all the kids had drum corps in their blood. There were times that I would be at their house, WAITING for them to go to rehearsals, that Nichole would pick up Holly's mellophone, and show us all, including Mommy, how to play it the right way. She is a "PIP" to put it mildly, and will make drum corps a much better place in the future. Good job Mom and Dad, and good for the Skyliners..... Uncle J :P
  6. St. Ignatius All Girls Drum and Bugle Corps!!!! WOW!! Talk about a great corps. Those chicks were GOOD!! But I guess they had to be with the staff they had. Hy Drietzer, Carmen Cluna, Tommy Martin, Johnny Oddo, etc. I sure hope someone can help Holly out. She still bleeds red, white, and blue. Johnny :P
