  1. Which of the following corps are most likely to finish in the Top 6 within the next 10 years?
  2. Point is ... it is not a DCI problem, so there really is no reason to whine about it. I have only had one glitch and have watched since the beginning.
  3. That was the best performance I have seen from BK yet this year ... and no mic problems.
  4. Seems like Glassmen had some technical trouble at the end. You could barely hear the organ. Maybe it was a DCI mic problem though.
  5. I'd rather watch the field than the black screen between each show.
  6. Yep. No problems with wired connection, other than the sound hangup during the Colts. I have a highspeed fiber connection though, so speed probably matters as well.
  7. It is not played like cheese though. Clearly the music they take from the Bridgemen could be classified as cheesy, but like the Bridgemen did, they play it with style and a certain amount of irony, which negates the cheese factor. If they took amore serious and dour approach to the music, it would be painful. Don't know if that makes any sense to anyone else.
  8. The thing I loved about Surf was that they played fun popular music, without resorting to cheese. I cannot stand cheese, unless it is edible.
  9. It's your internet. Haven't had any issues at all today.
  10. While I am one that prefers the more artistic shows (like Phantoms this year ... and yes ... BD's), I also loved Surf's show. That was the first time I saw it. I do hope they continue to do really fun shows like that, and that they continue to do them better so more people pay attention to them. I don't want it at the expense of the awesome shows that PR or BD does, but I do want a bigger variety.
  11. Surf's show would be even better if they wore the full Bridgeman style coats.
  12. Has any show ever come close to beating the visual design of 2002 Cavaliers?
  13. But the point of my post was to highlight how few shows were not liked, not the handful of shows that people did like. I realize now this was a fools errand, as people would have just said "all of them" if I asked how many shows people loved this year. Despite these silly semantic debates, I think most people would agree that there are very few subpar shows, from a design standpoint, on the field this year.
  14. 1999 Cavaliers was one of the first drum corps shows I ever saw, and is one of the reasons I became a fan of drum corps. The Cavies are still my favorite corps.
  15. You have no idea how old I am. And I can show you several veteran and respected posters here that used the word "hate" when describing a drum corps show, so excuse me for getting a little annoyed at being lectured over this just because I am new and don't have the drum corps experience you have.
  16. While reading some of the conversations regarding changes in drum corps, I have seen people reference certain shows that fomented change in the style of drum corps. Shows such as the Cadets in 1983, Star in 1993, and Blue Devils in 2010 (and this year). Since I am a relatively new fan and I know there are people here who are a lot more knowledgeable about drum corps history than I am, I was wondering if there were any other shows that people could cite that caused drum corps to change in some notable way, even if it was only a slight change.
  17. I don't think anyone will catch BD this year, though I would be happy if Crown did. I hope SCV moves up ... they have the show to do it. Blue Knights have a show that could move up as well, but I am skeptical that they will be able to make a move.
  18. If people don't even bother to read beyond the headline, why should I care what their reaction is? I don't see how anyone who read the entire post would come to the conclusion that I was trying to bash any corps or offend anyone. In fact, I specifically suggested that people don't post the names of the shows they disliked to avoid starting a bashing contest. If this is all motivated because I used the word "hate" instead of something else, then forgive me for finding that incredibly silly and juvenile. People use the word "hate" all the time in the ordinary course of conversation without meaning it in its most extreme form. I'll get off my soapbox now and let this thread die. Needless parsing of semantics is a pet peeve of mine.
  19. Teach me then. How on earth could you not tell that my initial post was meant to be positive about this years shows? Or maybe it is that you didn't even bother to read beyond the headline.
  20. The point of the thread was to highlight how great the shows were this year. I thought that was obvious. And while new, I have been here long enough to know that there are plenty of people here that dislike certain shows, regardless of how big of fans they are. In fact, that seems to be all that people talk about.
