Haven't read every singly post quite yet in this discussion so I'm sure it's already been answered but perhaps I can bring something more to your understanding of this show because it's my favorite so far this year. So, E=mc2 obviously has to do with Einstein, so they simply chose pieces and concepts that have to do with Einstein himself. A large part of their musical program is not just the Strauss (2001 music, which was chosen for pretty obvious reasons, I feel) but these things called the Knee Movements from Philip Glass' opera "Einstein on the Beach". Glass wrote a series of operas with major historical figures as their focus and this was his first. Each of the Knee Movements took place between the acts and they were meant to represent what was going on in Einstein's head, so really, it's not supposed to make much sense but at the same time be extremely orderly and mathematical, which is what Glass does best. And besides, even if you don't understand the concepts behind the design choices, you can still marvel at the pristine brass sounds they constantly put out. I swear, they're superpeople :)

  4. 1. Denver: Home Crowd, great acoustics, beautiful weather, being able to go home for a night afterward 2. J. Birney Crum: Old time drum corps crowd, snow cones 3. Alamodome: The air conditioning is heaven after a week of Texas.
  5. I totally agree, sometimes the music isnt as accessible as others, but honestly its all incredibly well performed and thats what this activity is all about: maxing everything out.
