  1. What I had said was, admittedly, a poor thing to say. It was my own personal opinion that in no way needed to be announced in a public forum such as this. Which is why I edited it away. But what's done is done. All I can do is hope no one else was offended or anything :)
  2. As a current member of Crown, I respect your opinion. I know many people who view the activity in this way, and I understand it completely! Why pay $3,000 to get your ### kicked for 3 months when you don't win? And why go back? Marching at Crown has allowed me to make some of my best friends. It's given me amazing experience, because the people there have made me push myself harder than I ever have. Sure, I could audition at the Blue Devils and, if I were to make it, probably win a ring. But I just don't like the way BD does things. I'm not disappointed in the staff at all. I couldn't ask for a better staff to learn from! I was heartbroken when I heard that Andrew Ebert left, despite only have marched one summer. But this new staff is equally awesome. That's why I love Crown; because no matter how bad the decision seems at first, the people who run this place like Kevin Smith and Jim Coates always have my safety and fun in mind. And who are you.
  3. A little too ambitious for my fingers... ;) But, I guess that's what Smart Music and spring-training are for xD
  4. You won't be disappointed :) Michael really went above and beyond with this year's brass book
  5. :P This past camp still has my mind a bit boggled, you'll have to excuse me :)
  6. Thom's writing is so cool. I stand next to the tenors in our victory arcs mostly, and they love it as well. Him and Klesch are a hell of a team
  7. Normally I'd agree... But I think this show is definitely designed to be a drum corps show. The best way I can say it... When the 2011 program was told to us members, I was considering going to another corps because I thought the show was going to be a hokey high school show. I stayed because I love Crown and it ended up being an amazing summer. When Jim Coates told us about this year's program? And when I listened to the pieces Michael Klesch rearranged for the show? This is going to be a drum corps show, and it's going to be amazing. It's going to be able to connect to a crowd too. I got chills just playing some of this stuff, I can't imagine how people will react when they see it live.
  8. As a member of this corps and marching this show, it will be announced soon :)
  9. I, personally, think that some of the Bluecoats' body movements were pretty messy. Watching them play "Creep" in the beginning of their show, it's not very together. The movements were there and were executed well, but it wasn't executed together. Almost like the attention to detail was lacking.
  10. Is this it? I don't have sound, but I know what video you're talking about. Just don't know if this is the one
  11. This would be really awesome, but it's a hell of a lot easier to drive halfway across the country to get back to finals than it would be all the way across the country. I like the venue though!
  12. Well, about $3100 in fees... Probably $25 or so on laundry. $150 on free-days easily, if not more. I'd guess around $4000 by the end of it.
  13. To be completely fair to Leon, he is rarely the one that adds in body movements and dancing.
  14. It most definitely is. Don't get me wrong, last years book was hard and I enjoyed the show, but this year... And good lord, Michael Klesch and Thom Hannum are a powerhouse
  15. I'm excited about marching my second season at Crown And relating to that, I'm excited at this year's show. I am really excited to be marching a full-fledged drum corps show this year, one that I think could be a contender this year (fingers crossed) And, for it to be a good summer. This one is going to rock (no pun intended), because there's simply going to be so much awesomeness in competition this time. Gonna be fun!
  16. Yes, those were "Firkus Blocks" as I recall, because they were run by Ben Firkus. Last summer was my first summer at Crown, we really only had one of them and it wasn't even that bad (though he was taking it easy). We had to work on some marching stuff so we got in a huge block and did as he said. People who ticked had to run laps, while the rest of us kept doing the drill. 2009 and 2010, from what people who were there tell me, were MUCH worse.
