  1. Why? Your posts make it seem like you (altogether) don't like the fact that change MIGHT be happening in the top 12. It sounds like you aren't up for the idea that the top 12 MAY be changing. I hope you eventually see the light, and see that some 'non top 5' groups are very well trained and deserve to be placed higher. I personally would LOVE to see new corps break in, kick others out, and have some fresh new groups take some top 10 spots :) It was bound to happen eventually. I hope it continues.
  2. Man, everything causes cancer these days. Fresh air Sun Water Soil Food Other people
  3. Again, don't forget, Academy spent an entire week previous to the show prepping for their indoor theater show.
  4. Phantom? I was under the impression from the grapevine a large chunk of them came from Academy. But again, before they were at Academy, they were with Phantom.
  5. It's been pretty clear everyone from 12-15 are always squished together. There are tooooooo many factors to consider, and argue, to put any corps in any placing right now.
  6. Must be the all-female guard, blinding everyone with their beauty & grace. Or the new brass staff, blinding everyone with their beauty & grace... Wait a second...
  7. I don't know, why? There were none in NM.
  8. You are correct. There are no field judges. This plays to many corps' advantages, and also hurts many corps.
  9. I'm not surprised by these placings, however the scores: yes. Also, I just remembered, we must consider the fact that the Academy spent all last week prepping for their theater show. They are just playing catch-up. In my opinion, these scores do not reflect what is to come this season. Not at all.
  10. No point trying with today's technologies. No foaming of my mouth will happen.
  11. Ah, probably. 2009 had a New Mexico show as well, I remember. Maybe Rio Rancho as well.
  12. I appreciate your opinion, since you've had the chance to hear it. Do you think that playing Mars just automatically gets you a favorable crowd response? Me thinks so!
  13. I believe there has been numerous New Mexico show sites over the years. This one strikes me as a newer show site. I vaguely remember a place called Las Cruces? Correct me if I'm wrong.
  14. Off course SCV will be knocking on everyone's head. As they should have been.. every. single. year. How can you possibly go wrong with a show that has great music and a theme that anyone can grasp from the title. It's easy for SCV to be good, and finally, they just might be on the right track. Tonight, my predictions: PR SCV (not far behind, mainly because the show will be promisingly crowd-pleasing.) Academy BK (very close to Academy, but I think AZ might have a quick jump out of the gate this year!)
  15. To get even more far fetched, yet relatively timely (à la Miss.Universe pageant), I wonder how an all-male corps or all-female colorguard would handle the situation if someone transgendered chose to audition (and was brilliant). I wonder if they would accept them. edit: I wonder if the auditionee would even mention it? /far fetched comments
  16. To play (an opinionated) devil's advocate: I believe having an all-female colorguard in a corps that is co-ed is not 'fair'. I was searching for a word other than fair, but couldn't think of one. Of course it offers an overall different vibe and I think either way, the guard will be talented. However limiting a co-ed corps to an only female guard is forcing young men who have always dreamed of performing there, to audition somewhere else. The fact being 'we are only auditioning females' seems unfair to me. As someone who dances, why would I not want to be with one of the most 'graceful' colorguards of the activity. A little far fetched, but it is the same as saying 'we are only going to audition those who weigh in at 110lbs or less' What do you think?
  17. I read the first few pages of this thread last night and personally thought I needed to intervene and say only this: It is silly to be judging a corps' final fate June 18th. Naturally, I appreciate the opinion, but to say that it is the fault of any new staff, is nonsense. There are so many factors to consider.
