  1. lol i was reading that second post of his, and was thinkin: "didnt i watch somthing in 2000 finals dvd about sanford passing away?" dumb ###
  2. i was actually standing like 10 feet away from the guy when he said that...I looked at another Renegade and was like "holy ####, i cant belive he just said that"
  3. THAT was incredibly fun. dont forget that it was FREEZING too. stupid high brass that had vis block in the sunny morning! it was sooo much fun that day. and i do remember us being bitter about the high brass being in the sun all morning. so we all went out there in t-shirts and shorts. then it turned into a freakin monsoon. its great to go to tryouts, just for the expeirence
  4. LMAO....not that its funny that he drowned out the soloist, just kinda funny in general
  5. shawn, i would agree with you 100%, BUT i think someones opinion is different then saying "that was not difficult". especially when u only see what the camera shows you. Im not gonna speak for every section in the corps, but i know for the bassline, it was an on-the-go show. BY NO MEANS AM I SAYING NO ONE ELSE'S SHOW WASENT HARD (read that twice if you have to). I just dont appreciate when someone who probibly is not even marching, trys to argue (with someone who was on the feild) about what was hard about a show that they watched from their living room. thats all. i know we had mistakes and thats why we werent 1st place. other people had fewer mistakes therfor they place higher. and i like how everyone thinks Renegades are bitter about the penalty. thats so not the case. completly opposite. It was me in '03
  6. hey topsops, I totaly am not gonna bash ya for posting your opinion, because simply thats all it is. I dont know what the DVD shows because i havent seen it yet. but, the drumline was going at the 186-196 (or whatever it ended up being) the whole opener into Ave Maria. with alot of random set changes. so yes....it was difficult, and we were playing some good stuff at the same time. I understand this is supposed to be a "how it looked on DVD" thing, but unless the dvd shows the entire feild the whole time, i dont think its fair to judge the show in its entirerty. that drill has hard for me, had to RUN with the bottom bass.....fun times!
  7. one of the guys in my bassline this year had a really cool pad i wanna find. it was a rectangular shape with a soft rubber on top. the cool thing was that it had little beads under the pad itself and sounded like a really quiet snare. AND it fit inside his stick bag!!!
  8. becca were you one of our neighbors in the hotel this year??? i know we had pit people on both sides of us.
  9. also, more then anything. i would practice standing at attention/playing position for time. we stood for sooo long at tryouts. it hurt alot and then on top of that it was raining un-belivably hard.
  10. the right hand is all fingers..palm completely away from the horn. but dont worry its the FIRST thing you do at tryouts. they take you into the mirrored room and show you how to hold your horn, pistol, and any other movements. dont worry, dont stress.
  11. thats so random. it seems most bass players come from other sections. other then percussion. hmmmmmm
  12. hey Drummer girl, I also am a multi-talented bass drummer. i started out on any and every Treble clef horn that had at least 2 valves. sure i marched some snare in high school but that was it. nothing serious. then this past year i heard there was an open spot in the Renegades bassline (the corps i was playing bari with for the time.) so i jumped at the chance. i was of course worried cuz i never really played bass. but i gave it my all. got great instruction from Murray Gussick, Kent Cater, Lee rudnicki and everyone else in my line. also the guy on top bass was my drumline instructor from HIGH SCHOOL!!!! (let me tell u, playing with guy who used to teach you, is an AWSOME experience.) as the season passed i started gettin really good compliments from everyone and i just busted my ###. now im trying out for a top 5 corps this year with high hopes! so i guess i would give this advice. if you havent played bass in a corps, and its somethin you really wanna do, Try a senior corps in your area, or even a div 2-3 corps. i will never regret Marching with Renegades and i cant wait to go back! (your so spoiled in seniors :-p)
  13. hey john Renegades use dynasty drums. u might wanna find someone on here and ask em. maybe drumlaw80 himself. but we had many people do great things with our drums. Dave dulilo from SCVC, Murray gussick from SCV. and of course all the talented snares within our line.
  14. my .02, Renegades had a full sponsership from promark this past season and i loved there sticks. i know the ones the snares used were very similar if not identical to hardimons. im a bass player so i wouldent know about theirs. but the bass mallets held up really well. and they gave us cool member shirts :-p
  15. i would have to Agree....gove RCR some time and they will also be a main competitor in DCA. smokin Drumline.
  16. scuse me mr Safe...i thought u didnt go on these kinda things????
  17. Definitly was a cool show. was a privlege to play with a great bassline. and was also a great thing to play all 8 corps onto the feild for retreat. totaly awsome weekend. Thank you Danny, Mike, Mike, and Chris. good job guys
  18. ya know this amazes me. whenever someone post a review of a drum corps show from another persons prospective, they always seem to remember the Renegades the most. like someone posted a concord review that their 8 year old son had given and he again had great things to say about us. I think that draws me more to renegades, The fact that u dont have to be a drum corps ethusiust to enjoy or even understand the Renegades. and to those who arent drum corp fans, we usually turn them into one. thats what i also loved about impulse! but they seem to be changing their ways.... I love my show, i love my Corps!
  19. Hey, ya know what. whoever "lownotes" is Dosent really bother me and i dont Care what he/she thinks about my corps. Yesterday was a very exciting and memorable day. i dont care how bad i did, i dont Care how bad the Rest of the corps did, it was my first drum corps show ever and thats something i will always remember. i personaly had a great show and loved every part of it. i was just as confident with my show yesterday as i was with my run throughs. maybe that dosent say much but i was happy with myself. thank you renegades staff for the great show you gave us ( in other words thanks for the heart attacks after every run) and thanks to the guys and gals in black that make me feal like part of another family away from home. (oh and thank you BD snareline for splitting 32's with one hand) subway.....eat fresh
  20. Easy answer...Kent Cater, Lee Rudnicki, and Murray Gussick. ALL IN THE SAME YEAR
  21. yeah ok i dont know who you are but its getting annoying. Like wolf said our memebers message board is down or else i would have posted it there.. ya gotta love how we're Exactly like the Bridgmen!!! man its like we're there freakin clones. "i will call them, Mini Me" ^0^ Trevor
