  1. I just hope he didnt "crush" the desire of some talented young adults in that specific area. Can and could understand now that ANY sort of drum corps experience is always going to have an asterisk behind it.... (theory until on the starting line) in regards to any of the potential members and or their parents and sponcers. This really, I feel, was a black-eye for the activity, and I believe that the likes of this situation needs attention from DCI BOD's and come up with better solution to the potential members (the new corps in question would have to have DCI SEND info to the potential member...) just for validity... if something isnt there already. Hope the young adults that want to march find a place !!!
  2. I was under the impression that DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS WAS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION........ I suggest that we keep it that way......... The majority of the fans say thank-you !!!
  3. Im old school, and have finally excepted electronics... (still dont really see the reason to have it..but oh well) BUT THIS HAS TO STOP HERE !!!!!!!!! Woodwinds in drumcorps..... NO.... this is drum and BUGLE corps...... ALL but 2 directors said... "heck-yeah.. come aboard..!"when asked about allowing woodwinds... Knowing one of them, I hope this person voted no. We have BOA..and hey-thats ok.,... BUT DCI is it's own entity... It has it's own following and fans... Lets just leave things as they are for right now.......... please .. directors.. for the fans sake.. the ones that pay to help get your corps down the road and from city to city...... and pay your directors fees... PLEASE listen to your fans !!!!!!!!! I was leary about the clarinet player from the past year.. and thought... "there goes the neighbood..!" BUT AGAIN.. that was for a RETREAT performance. NOW.. if the corps wants to charge a woodwind player "dues" to travel to just do "encore" performances.. hey.. more power to you.. however, Im really not all too sure who's going to take you up on that.......with no assurance that playing that day/night would take place...... If DCI's BOD would listen to their fans...... they'd hear us... and not even allow the THOUGHT of woodwinds...... period. I hope there are MANY MANY others that feel this way.... and by all means... please be VOCAL !!!!! Thankyou A DCI fan from 1975
  4. The thought of this has just sunk my value in drum corps to a new low.......... I enjoy my drum corps as it is..... RIGHT NOW... Im old school... and it took awhile for the electronics for me personally, but WOODWINDS... ???? No.. this is drum and BUGLE corps... what part, do all but 2 of the directors, dont they understand ??????????? Leave DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS ALONE !!!!!!!!!! GO START YOUR OWN "ORGANIZATION" IF YOU HAVE TO ....... again... just my views....
  5. ok.... sounds good...! best of luck to ya !
  6. Thank-you for writing that Cathy........ that is exactly what I meant when I wrote what I wrote.... and unfortunately, it does apply now, as it did in ALL years of DCI... People WANT to win.... and be associated with a winner... no problem with that... but you SHOULD be living for the MOMENT.... and doing the best you can do
  7. sorry...not going to get into a pissing match with you.. I would, however, go and re-read some of what you wrote, and think about how what you have written... and how it could be taken... try that
  8. Not in ENGLISH verbage... maybe not, but if you read thru the forum and take in and understand what they ACTUALLY mean, THEN .... this was (non-verbally) said
  9. WOW !!! Alot of reasons and emotions flowing on this forum... I think the majority for going to another corps HAS to be because of corps1 going inactive.. If you go and march another corps because of said reason, then I believe you have no explaining. What I dont like is the attitude that "if I dont win a ring, then the season wasnt worthy " theory....... so therefor, I am leaving because I really prefer to do encore's.... and personally, if you do go and corps jump FOR THIS REASON, then, I believe, you are not marching drum corps for the CORRECT reason. Again.. everyone has a reason for doing something.. as much as we like or dispise THOSE CHOSEN reasons, but the whole reason for doing drum corps SHOULD be for the experiences that we have that no other activity allows us to experience.
  10. Just seems the "hurry to wait and find out" is something I believe ALL corps enjoy doing to us fans..
  11. Black slacks/bibs and black shoes HIDES alot.... probably a reason alot of corps use this to their advantage.
  12. check this out... maybe there's a big gold triangle on there somewhere...
  13. I was raised in a house that had older members (original) of a corps ....... It's been around me my whole life, while this corps was thriving, then inactive, and after going thru Div's 3,2 and now 1, I marched because it was in my blood..
  14. thats odd.... didnt know that corps in question was doing a show based from a casino and showroom in Vegas !?!?! ?
  15. the whole point of that statement was the fact that the whole show had to march around this "deterant" on the 50, for which people in the stands were thinking "what in the he11 is this?????" So, if you'd like to "fill me in", maybe others as well, for that point, since that show was Oh so popular.... (well, at least w/the consession stands, as they were really busy whenever this show appeared, or seemed to be from watching the other drum corps fans....). since you seem to know oh so much here, please do tell.... I'd be more then happy to hear what you had to tell me about that "show", so that I can go and watch the DVD, and STILL try to understand what exactly this was all about in the first place. I will however try to put the visual obstuction past me, and listen to the music over the verbage. Did I say I cant wait to see the Blue Stars new uni's ??
  16. Ask others... Im sure the word "entertaining" will be the first word/adjective when they are asked about that show..... ...um... yeah, uh huh !!
  17. Yes... Thank you Mike.... lets talk about the new uniform.. Im sure that it will be impressive, and very distinctive. And, because we're dealing with the drum corps audience, Im sure many will like it and Im sure of at least 1 person that wont. Hummmm wonder who that will be. ???? Anyways.. it should be a great season for drum corps. I am looking forward to the Minneapolis Regional. Great new venue for a great regional.
  18. Hello all that are truely concerned and have a genuine intrerest about the Blue Stars... Im sure the show and uniform that the corps has chosen for this years show will be well received. I have chosen to put an iggy on Silver.... this person is very negative, and I suggest that all others do the same. Thanks !
  19. no doubt Im sure we'll hear some good music this summer !!!
  20. Well.. didnt we not too long ago, right on the 50 in the middle of the field, get to see the "couple" sitting around ...living room style.. while members wearing maroon and gold marching all around them..? Maybe he was a therapist ? Strangly, between musical phrases, the "couple" chatted with each other about their lives and made the whole show ....... oh, just so entertaining !
