  1. The poles are weighted. We have a bolt in the top. I remember an night in 2002 having problems in warm up with a simple toss and I could not figure it out. I had the flag on the wrong end for some odd reason and had to do a quick switch....could be the blonde factor in this case. Just wondering....how did it look like we were tossing unweighted flags in 02? When I see unweighted flags, I can usually tell because tosses look wild and I hope that is not the case.
  2. I was also a fan of the PR uniforms. I loved the corset-like tops. And who had the velvet long skirts that were beigesh..I liked those. On a side note: did the Cavies uniforms remind anyone else of the movie Tron? (I think it is when they get stuck in a computer game of some sort)Not in a bad or good way...that is just the first thing that I thought of when I saw them. I was just curious if anyone else got the same idea.
  3. I believe the correct term for what he was wearing is a wig my dear =)
  4. They were not extensions...that was their real hair.
  5. I will be taking the summer off. I will miss it but it will be worth it. I have marched the past 5 summers and will take this one off and then march my age out the following year. I would love to go to finals, but I will probably only get to see the California shows. I will highly enjoy being a spectator, but that doesn't beat being out there one bit.
  6. I wake up to see my hand in the air, and I casually pull it down hoping no one else on the bus saw it!
  7. Now that I think about it, it was weird to only name my rifle. I can't for the life of me remember the name of my first rifle, but my second was Oscar..can't remember why. The second was Burt, and my best friend named hers Ernie. Then another was named g-pig after a girl who always said guinepig. But now it makes sense why you would name all your equiment. Maybe I it was because my rifle was always my favorite. :D
  8. It was my very first drum corps show ever....watching or performing. I was 15...this was 98. I was on a small corps and we were the first to perform that day. Well..halfway through the show the guard captain accidently hit me in the EYE with the (plastic) butt of her flag. Well....I almost blacked out..it was pretty hard and hurt llike a..well I don;t have to say that. I kinda got tunnel vision for a bit....just soomed in on the feet of the person in front of me because I had lost count, and kept going. I have blood running down my face for the rest of the show and had a trip to the ambulance afterwards..the first customer of the day. So that was my first drum corps show and first black eye! But I did get to eat dinner first that day =)
  9. Sorry for the confusion..I was referring to the BD, not magic.
  10. No, sorry it is not true. They have not used anything like that yet: at least the baritones have not used them. My boyfriend was just being MEAN and pulling my leg. I started to ask him ig he knew how they made them and he was feeding me all this B******t about it..which is when I caught on that he was just being a butthead!!! (I hope he reads this)
  11. I think perhaps the problem here is that the Blast! cast makes it look so easy. That is combined with the fact that this writer has NOOO knowledge whatsoever of the roots and backround of this show. I can see how whe thought the drummers were the best because perhaps it is easier for the untrained eye to see that as harder from a visual standpoint. Not that I agree with it.....I think it is just a bit harder for a non-musician to tell how hard the brass stuff is. Being on color guard myself, I really didn't like the reference to cheerleaders and baton twirlers. If it was sooooo rediculous, then it would not have the fan base that it has. I think it is not right to do a review of something if you are not familiar with it and haven't done any research at all into it.
  12. I believe it was the Blue Devils who won Visual that night. The Cavies won high guard that night.
  13. I am a youngin', but the BD guard in '99 was the guard I loved and definitely idolized. Awesome performance, and it was the type of show I would have loved to be in (except I can't do the splits =).
