At least their intonation is better than previous shows. -

If I ever win the lottery and start a corps Star of Indiana style, I'll have 100 brass on the field, thank you very much. -

They have so many guard they had to reduce their hornline to 60 members (I think that's the number) and amplify them the entire show. -

So after BK's under-utilized guard, we now have the too-many-guard-so-we-need-to-cheat corps -

It's probably part of the agreement with the estate to use the music. -

Don't forget that Mandarins and Pacific Crest tied in their first show this season in Clovis, CA for 6th with a 60.5. -
I LOVE Vegemite. You gotta do it right, you only want a very very thin layer on some buttered toast. People always put on WAY too much (Aussies actually enjoy watching people spread it on thick like it's Nutella, as they know the show to come...) I'm down here in drop bear territory getting my PhD in Entomology. Definitely not a professional musician, but hey, I still play tuba in the university's wind symphony.

I have. The fact that I moved to Australia is irrelevant

So what are we going to do about it?

This is the sort of thinking I'd like to incorporate. There's definitely some slippery slope here.- 164 replies

Do YOU like the usage of amplification this season? Do you like listening to Phantom Regiment's entire hornline through amps, for the entire show?- 164 replies

It is readily becoming apparent this season that the new trend of amplifying entire hornlines (or large ensembles) is not sitting well with the fanbase. I have seen many calls for either the judges to limit rewarding or even penalize amplification of this magnitude, I've seen calls for DCI to change rules to better define what can and can't be done. All this clamoring will not do anything if confined to DCP. Action is what brings change. I ask the community, the fans, parents, and alumni, for help in drafting an open letter to DCI. We obviously have concerns, let us voice them directly. Being able to sign on to the letter will obviously be important, as there is strength in numbers. It should be disseminated as far as possible as well: to Reddit, at shows, etc. I do not know a platform that will facilitate this, so help here is appreciated. Below, I've typed out an example of what this could look like. Please help me flesh it out a bit. I will consider all criticism, as long as it is constructive. And please, keep the subject to amplification and electronics usage, this is not the proper time for an argument about rights, streaming, the fan network, etc.

I appreciate Blue Stars coming clean like this, but at the same time, it is absolutely asinine that any corps has to make this statement at all.

Your service isn't fast enough. Make sure your quality is set to Auto. That seems to solve buffering issues for me, though the video won't always be top quality (audio will still be strong). Even on my gigabit Ethernet connection I can't stream uninterrupted when forcing 720p resolution (though I also have to run through a VPN, which definitely slows things down).

I enjoyed the Columbians show. Very well done. That corps is going places. The Battalion was exceptional. One year as a SoundSport, and in their second season as an Open Class corps... yet they're only a few members shy of full strength, and they sound like a World Class group. Their show design was the perfect difficulty, and easy to communicate. Whatever this group is doing, they're doing right. I hope they continue to build on what they have.

3 SHADES OF BLUE and friends Denver, Co

That's not what was asked. If you ask, "did they win any captions last year" it is not assumed that you only mean finals night, but rather the caption awards. -

No. Crown won both guard and visual performance caption awards last year. BD did not win any caption award whatsoever. -

I'll call BK to win percussion tonight, and take second in brass over Bluecoats. Blue Devils will win, but it'll be close. Blue Knights break 80. -

They should keep whoever it is that designs their color schemes though. They use color better than anyone else. -

The visual design of this show is so weird. And I don't care. They're demonstrating that musically, at least, they have no issues whatsoever going on after Bluecoats and Blue Devils. -

Huge crowd tonight looks like. Imagine if a real regional was held here. I wouldn't be surprised if attendance rivaled finals.
