2003 Finals CDs Review
raphael18 replied to DCIPhreak's topic in DCI (All) Corps Show & Event Reviews
any day your compared to '89, and those buicks, is a good day -
or you could get lucky, and get to hold it during a show - I know X-men played pedals as part of their warm-up this year.
-
Last year everyone at PR had to go out and find a Schilke 51 D, and that's also what I used with my other corps...seems to be a pretty standard one for a lot of corps.

If you get a chance, check out the semi's show, technically speaking it was a better show. -

lol would you have it any other way? *meant in the joking friendly sort of way I agree that there's a line, and that it should never be crossed. That said; more power to those that explore the envelope of their instrument. -
yeah, the fever line had a lot of heart I played clarinet forever, learned to play snare for drum corps. Well, that didn't work out, so I picked up a bari, and became section leader my rookie year...and my second year. After all that fun, I picked up a euph, and worked my but off to get into a top 5 line to age out. and now I don't get to play anything...but I do get to teach, and that's almost as much fun.

i think he's referring to the hornline's gloves, which were purple lol, you sit on a bus for hours before quarters with over 20 years of regiment videos' and after a while you pick up on stuff -

esspeically when your ankly weight is more than a sop but that's why they make up for it with more notes, it all evens out- we pick our fun
-
yeah, i love anaheim- got it from a friend that marched g-men forever Blue Star...you have to hype that, we actually got to I think it was the oposite 20 or 25 this year towards the end of everydays Circle drill can be fun too- never underestimate the joys of holding your horn while staying in a slide position you definately come out of basics with higher opinions of yourself and corpsmates at regiment
-
nothing like trekking big momma with your ankle weight on for a mile or so, good times. lol

my friend lee lost his shoe at the end of our second piece at finals this year, and then did the kick-out at the end with his sock (PR 03) figured he'd teach JD - he only lost his chicken -

oops -
humbling to see regiment '03 on the lists; not only is it still a very new show, but its being put in some truly elite company

the most painful are the missed releases in PR '93, and '96 - otherwise those shows couldn't be much more perfect to listen to. -
loved my Kanstul G Baritone Grande - absolutely gorgeous instrument, and you could tune it no matter what the weather. have to say it was more fun playing that King Bb Euph- part of that was the ensemble...part of it was the fact that it was a euphonium. sweet horns
-
the euphs that we used aren't up yet, and no marching band will ever buy them, they were beasts. there was a 1st trigger in the dynasty tradition, and a 3rd valve slide. um...they'll be getting new horns for next year that will definately be nicer. they are absolutely huge- we're talking Bb bugles, for lack of a better description. they play in tune on their own quite well, but the at a certain point it was impossible to tune in cold weather -real cold
