  1. hahaha!! that was great. From NY to W-S, I would absolutely make the trip. I think it would be such a breath of fresh air for DCA.
  2. I agree. It's going to be a dog fight. Considering the type of season that DCA corps have, and that some of these corps are making some serious road trips to be here, they should allow at least the top 12, if not all corps, into finals.
  3. Are you serious? haha what a bunch is right!! :P Get a grip, DCA allows only the top 10 into finals now. Why am I a bad person now?
  4. I really can't call it, too close. But if I could, I would... Bottom line though, someone is going to take that 10th place spot, everyone else is out.
  5. I agree. I've seen them a few times over the past 2 or 3 years... and, IMHO, this is the best they have ever been. Outstanding group running that corps. Go Raiders!!
  6. 1. Bucs 2. Empire 3. Brigs 4. Minnesota 5. Bush 6. Renegades 7. Cabs 8. Corps Vets 9. Carolina Gold 10. ????? Someone is not making finals.. .whos' it gonna be??
  7. Thanks a lot! That's very interesting. I didn't know CT beat Hawthorne in '82. It sounded to me like someone lit a fire under the Cabbies that night. Should be interesting indeed. Hopefully it will be more interesting next year and the finals will be in Winston-Salem. Scranton is not a good venue. How embarassing to watch the finals tape with no base covers on the dirt. I will definitely make the trip to W-S next year. This year, I'm going to the beach!
  8. Interesting thought... I wonder if anyone out there knows the answer to this. When was the last time that the Hurcs & Cru beat Hawthorne? I'm interested in finding this out. This year is going to be even more interesting than last.
  9. Jeff, from what I've seen so far this year, I agree with this as well... Cabs having the hardest book. I thought so last year as well, the things they were playing while moving so much were just great... and I thought no one would take them... but then I saw Minnesota for the first time. OH MY GOD! I wouldn't count them out until they show up and you can see for yourself what they've got going on. Just an absolutely outstanding percussion program.
  10. As much as I'd like to see a tight race between these corps, it's not going to happen. Once they see each other in real time, these spreads will expand. Hawthorne will take off, with Cru being the only corps on this list with a chance to stay on their tail... otherwise, not going to be that close. ... hopefully I'm wrong and it will be very competitive all the way to the end, but I don't think it will be. However, I do think that Bucs, Brigs, Empire, Minnesota, and the Renegades will have one heck of a battle for the top. And then there's Bush. Anyone who remembers 1986 knows to never count them out.. NEVER.
  11. I agree. The Hannums are great for playing the lower stuff with great sound quality. Playing with them makes me salivate for a copy of Stars 93' charts.
  12. Muchachos tribute Check out this cool drum corps tribute sight... www.ljpro1.com Click on the "drum and bugle corps" icon, then there are a few choices. The Hawthorne Muchachos tribute is very cool
  13. I know this is going back quite a way, but what about Hawthorne's drums, circa 1970's?? They were all wrapped in tiger skin. Very intimidating sight...
  14. Actually, it depends on what sound you yourself are looking for. I'd recommend a thicker stick in a drum corps setting, plainly for projection. But you will not get a non-authentic sound b/c your stick is 1/2". Tito played with a variety of sticks, using thunder tims, to timbalitos, to acheive just the sound he was looking for at any given time. I suggest you do the same.
  15. Anyone know of anyone trying to sell 3 tickets for Finals on Sunday?
  16. I have to agree... Hawthorne's staff needs to clean that drill. That's it... it's not clean. It's the only way they can beat the brigs...
