  1. I have a childhood friend named Buddy Bond. Is that his friend also?
  2. Jim - you don't have to go anywhere! We all can deal with different opinions. Sometime obviously everyone takes certain things more seriously or to heart that others. Keep on keeping on!
  3. Maybe they got bored? But maybe just maybe they had a vision to bring something a little different to the fine arts community? They created something to bring the DCI concept to another audience. You know all of that already right?
  4. It might be that local shows will have to come back later? It is possible to use vacant lots for rehearsal sites and also just a thought. Usually the contest site has large parking areas and fields. You could use that as rehearsal location and have a rolling schedule for the corps to use the field from the parking lots?
  5. I don't think the post said that. 2 things why name call and also if someone holds a different opinion you are then done? You are a "DINO" correct? I thought they had thicker skin. 15-24 is very very low risk. There are numbers on this but obviously the DCP is not the place to get into statistics about the corona virus. Drum Lines have been slobbering since they formed up. I had this affliction along with the dut dut dut one.
  6. There is risk in everything right? I don't think or hope I have ever been arrogant enough to say that "im not ready to be done giving you "blank" on here", If that type of behavior to our fellow forum members is ok then I will start ending every post with it. Question in my on mind. If covid patients / homeless / drug addicted / felons - etc can be housed for FREE (tax payers foot the bill). Then why can't a non profit fine arts programs negotiate some type of deal with a hotel chain for a discount (not even asking for a FREE tax payer funded ride). Has to be a way. Too bad Bill Cooke is not around any longer. We need leadership with optimism , drive and passion.
  7. Must be because I don't know any that ARE either. About DCI and housing and WGI - More for DCI , It would be proactive if DCI attempted to set a schedule for next year right now. Get a commitment of however many shows they can put together. Then the DCI and the corps could start trying to work out a housing plan. You could start speaking to schools that you have used in the past. Dialog would be good right now so you could start the relationships needed to try and start up a season again. East coast case-concentration was over the top. Sadly we know about the mortality rates also.
  8. The city changed for the good after those times. That is a sad period for New Orleans. It changed pretty quickly after 1964 but not fast enough for the incoming all star game. Amazingly the City kept changing and did not experience some of the more turbulent outcomes as many cities in the south. Absolute worst racism I have seen in the USA has been in a region of the country that is North and East late 80's. Different times though. As the south had gone through some very rough years , by the time the 80's came they had moved along on many fronts to fight racism parts of the country were still hiding the ugly side.
  9. Who tried to ruin the thread with political commentary? WTF (I hope that WTF can be used in the forum considering Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is used)
  10. Some are going on and the 5A and 6A divisions are delayed 3 weeks. But I do know that they are all at in person practices.
  11. DCI could be out front right now indicating guidance for possible housing solutions. I can think of a few. WGI can do this no problem from what I can see with sports.
  12. I think that WGI can go forward with a season much the same as professional and high school sports have.
  13. Some of the questions I got here could be directed to them as well.
  14. You are now talking about a "second wave"? Why did New York give away ventilators if they are worried about a mutation in the disease and it coming back stronger?
  15. Nah I think the predictions were based on garbage data and used as the scientific proof positive without any thought given to (+/-) and in reality they were so flawed but were being used as the only "science". I don't feel the need to answer your questions, but I said it before - there were best and worst case numbers floating out there. Split the difference. But to "panic" and demand 40 thousand ventilators was a mistake and waste of resources.
  16. Maybe as I said in my previous post, why not show worst case and best case? By the way when I see Whiskey Tango I automatically think White Trash because that is what we used in the Marines. But the kids changed it to mean something even worse.
  17. In Texas , Florida, and Arizona - I don't think they sent anyone positive into a nursing home.
  18. It was all about instilling fear. Why else would anyone think they would need 40 thousand ventilators. When in reality much less. Why would they run with those numbers if they knew they were just worst case? Why not show best case numbers? Fear.
  19. Imperial college was the source used by Uk and USA to set up or suggest shutdowns.
  20. The predictions of 1 to 2 million in USA was no doubt about instilling fear.
  21. I have no idea what position I had back in March that you are referring to did I predict the numbers or something? Go ahead and let me know. I will await your clever pretzel post. I had a step grandfather commit suicide because he was unable to see his grand children back in March. Obviously the grand children not coming over to see him was a good idea. The trouble was his mental condition could not handle it. Is that a covid death? Have you stayed clear of bleach?
  22. Deaths are going to happen because of this virus. The more we learn the better everyone is at counteracting the disease. Just like the flu. Do I believe the amount of deaths each year from the flu is acceptable? I wish no one had to die from the flu but it still happens. I accept that it still happens. I feel exactly the same way about covid-19. How do you you feel about the deaths from the flu? How do you feel about the covid-19 deaths? Yes any large crowd events should be discouraged. Rally's - Protest - Riots - Parades - etc. Its a mistake to do them. Can you agree to all of those events? Officials from "both sides" encouraged these types of events.
