  1. I marched Kilties in 79 and remember the Atlanta show as well as the Murray, KY 'show'. Being my age out year it was and it wasn't a fun summer. If you were around the Kilties that summer you know what I mean. Ted Boliske
  2. 74 Madison lost a show in early August in Cincinnati. Lineup included Madison, SCV, Anaheim, Kilties, Phantom and Blue Stars. Ted Boliske
  3. Hey Joe, What did you march in '77? Just curious. Ted Boliske QCC 1973-78
  4. That is the Norwood post. Norwood is a small suburb of Cincinnati, kind of a city within a city. It's surrounded by Cincinnati. Do you have anything from Northern Kentucky, say Covington, Dayton, Ft. Thomas or Bellevue? It always seemed like the jr. corps rivalry around here was based in the unfinished business of the, by my time 1973, defunct seniors. The sr. members went on to start jr. corps to prove that they could do drum corps better than the other posts. An ego thing I guess. Ted
  5. Actually Massillon is in northern Ohio near Cleveland/Akron area. The Mt. Healthy, Norwood and Forestville groups all had former members who were I either my corps directors, instructors or fellow member(s) in one case. If anyone has any old membership rosters or even better stories I'd greatly appreciate that. Ted
  6. Any more pictures of Cincinnati area Sr. corps or additional info on membership etc.? Ted Boliske FMM Queen City Cadets 1973-78
  7. The best advice is to go to your local music store and buy a beginning trumpet book. Even if you don't read music well or at all, any beginning band method book will get you started. As far as knowing which note you are playing, that is determined by which valves you are pushing down. Also, while you are at the music store, ask about taking some private lessons. A little bit of one on one instruction goes a long way. Ted Boliske
  8. Shoot me an address and I'll send you some short copies. Ted Boliske tboliske@cinci.rr.com
  9. Trumpet in Bb = C Sounds (1 whole step lower than written) Mellophone in F = F (sounds a perfect fifth lower than written) Trombone and Tuba are written in concert pitch, they are nontransposing Developing warmups and technical exercises is the responsibility of your band director. Talk with them before you start "teaching".
  10. My mistake. I knew Robbie marched 75 & 77, thought he also marched 74. Ted Kilities, Jr. 79 Kilties, Sr. 96
  11. That would be Jim Schrer, "Insanity". Which one though is Dino Riccio and Robbie Sciaro(sp?) ? Ted Boliske Kilties, Jr. 1979 Kilties, Sr. 1996
  12. What type of triplets? Eigths, quarters, etc. What is the time signature? Are there any rests in the measure? If there are rests in the measure then you have to erase or enter over them to add additional note values. Ted
  13. That would explain the sound quality issues for tenors and basses. The playback issue is something completely different. That one has me stumped and I've been using Finale since '94. Ted
  14. I've been using both Finale 2003 and Vitual Drumline together for about 9 months now. There have been no problems after getting them both setup. I presume you're using a PC because of the reference to a soundcard, I'm using a Mac. Finale works the same on both platforms. How are you entering notes in Finale? Simple or Speedy entry? How long have you been using Finale? It's not nearly as difficult to use as some people make it out to be. Email me off line and I'll try and help. Ted Boliske tboliske@cinci.rr.com
