  1. DCP is a great escape for all of us drum corps people… and a break to our friends/families, who get tired of us blathering on about captions, spreads, GE, etc. Come back when/if you’re ready. No one else has this “fever” like we do.
  2. Blue Stars’ brass has such a full and balanced sound. The lower brass provides such a solid foundation to that wall-of-sound effect.
  3. 100%. Feel like I’m watching one of their championship years
  4. Cadets’ show really keeps the attention engaged. Love it. This will go down as an important season for them. Who wrote their drill? It’s mesmerizing.
  5. On the previous topic, I visit Crown’s thread because it is possibly the best corps thread. The posters are informed, witty, and passionate about the activity and their corps. Crown has earned their status among the elite because of consistent excellence, originality, and for never playing it safe. As for any friction, I apologize for anything I’ve said, done, or posted to contribute to that. Sincerely. Whole threads could be dedicated to analyzing the origins of why some ancient BAC homers (like me) are the way they are… not that it excuses anything. Back to the topic of this thread, I’m wishing Crown their best season yet. I’ll be cheering for each success and achievement. The last three years were difficult for fans of the activity. So glad to see everyone on here and enjoying the activity’s return.
  6. There was no brass judge? Wtf… I thought the judge’s name actually was J. Missing — lol. How does that happen? Was there no one in the neighborhood (or stands) qualified? Half of us on here would’ve given brass scores.
  7. I’m not a big fan of BD, but have to give them credit where it is due. BD’s designers nail what the sheets reward with a frequency and variety that the others are not matching. That wins them GE. Add the depth of coordination across audio/visual elements, sections, and members: BD wins analysis. BD’s execution is also reliably high. Others are doing these things, but not as densely, variedly, originally, or as cohesively coordinated.
  8. Brass: 3rd, Percussion: 2nd, Guard: 1st The kids definitely brought it last night! It’s on the capable staff to meet the standards set by the kids, and bring this show home. Congrats, BAC!
  9. WAIT A SECOND……………… This is the first major competition we’ve seen in almost THREE YEARS! We’ve been starving for this. Welcome back everyone!
  10. Best run yet for Crown. No one is going to beat that brass line. Percussion sounded sharper too. Much less narration. No need when the music is this good. This show design has officially clicked. The cleaner visual brought it to life. I’m keeping them at 1-2 tonight.
  11. Best of luck to Crown. Let’s bring that trophy East. Crown will get more credit for their brass when there are more corps in a given show. Boston has caught Crown during these pre-SA shows, when there are fewer lines to rank. This season is looking good for BAC. Their final placement will likely be their best in the DCI era.
  12. I thought that was a feature about the Cavaliers! It looked like a high male:female ratio in Bluecoats brass line
