  1. Heh, I hear you.........the first time my wife was around the old "drum corps crowd", I could tell she was a little taken back by the attention I was getting from the girls. I truly don't think she being weird about it, but more "surprised". :P
  2. Absolutely no question in my mind that Tenors get the chicks.
  3. from experience, you bet there was emotion Nancy........what was "quiet" emotion all day until we hit the starting line, our finals performance was electric.
  4. Naw, had nothing to do with "you had won so many times prior".........I just felt that for everything 2-7 brought to drum corps (I've always been a huge fan of 2-7), it would have been nice to see you guys win, so with '80 being the best chance for that to happen, I chose that year as the one "I would give back". :)
  5. whoa Nancy, it's eerie you bring up that thread today, I wrote that exactly one year ago, on March 6th, 2004. *cues Twilight Zone theme* b**bs
  6. Thanks Nancy, if ANYONE deserved it, it was you. Here is the thread you mentioned: 1980 DCI Finals
  7. heh, ya never know, you might have come to the Devs, and changed the course of history............ :P
  8. lol, I have been called "The Terminator" by my friends and referred to being a Hells Angel quite a few times. But I'm a pussycat now.
  9. lol, no offense taken. :P Those pics are 27 years apart, so yea, I guess I have changed a bit, heh.
  10. heh, that's me on the right from '77 DCI finals retreat.
  11. cool, you do the same....enjoy. However, I don't miss the Bay Area, lol. 42 years was enough for me, started to feel like a sardine in a can.
  12. Yea, I saw Pep in Orlando in 2003, he was driving the staff bus, cool dude for sure.
  13. I hear you, '77 PR is one of my all-time favorites, I can still remember walking onto the field at finals as Phantom performed their drum solo..........seeing the lights from Mile High shining off PR's helmets, the crowd going absolutely bonkers, and then the "Beetoven" flags going up in their finale causing the crowd to go berserk. There is no question PR had the "fan-favorite" show, but in all actuality, it was us (Blue Devils) that out-executed everyone all year.
  14. Don't, not to sound cocky Felix, but we were on cruise control in '77. :P
  15. Well, our staff definitely knew how to "git er done", and with "Knute" Moxley around, there was always a calmness amongst the corps. Mike just knew how to focus the corps no matter how much the odds were stacked against us.
  16. Unlike '76, '77 (lockdowns), and ''79, 1980 finals was the most magical, memorable finals performance of my career with the Devils, as we came out on fire.
  17. Well, the beauty of the situation is you weren't there, and I was, and I know what I heard. Through the whole "from Concord, Ca.........the............" thing, all you could hear was "East, East, East" AND the "BOO". I posted what I did to state how I felt about the place, not to discuss what happened there with peeps that were not there. The only regret I have is using the word "distraught" instead of "shocked", which is how I felt. Thx.
  18. dis·traught (dĭ-strôt') pronunciation adj. 1. Deeply agitated, as from emotional conflict. 2. Mad; insane. I was deeply agitated, and insanely mad. :P
