  1. I may have room. But you'll have to stay in a hotel entirely booked by Caballeros -- Competing and Alumni. Lemme know f you still need space.
  2. Rookie Run-Through in 1994 at Rutgers practice field had more rookies on the field than vets watching from the hill... :P
  3. Beat ya both to that punch. :spit: :spit: :lolhit:
  4. You guys have me in stiches. It puts a smile on my face remembering all that great stuff, all the great times we had, and all the great times the rookies will have and the memories they'll make. And Terri to finish your thought: '...SUCKS that back of the bus' :P
  5. I listened to that show yesterday and I was like WHOA!!! Have to know where you been to kno where you're going.
  6. My all time favorites are 1994 Magic of Orlando -- the 2nd one (that gets the close-up on the broadcast -- right before drum solo). 1996 Hawthorne Caballeros (Spanish Fantasy) -- Andy Grilk and Mike Winfield. Oh and one of the guys in 1993 Blue Devils during Strawberry Soup that does a lip trill that BLOWS MY MIND -- during the rifle toss. (I'm a geek). And any SCV Baritone in the late 90's... Ok, I am a sucker for baritone players... especially my husband.
  7. We're not allowed anything sugary before we play -- not good for the horns. If we do have bug juice or iced tea, we have to rinse our mouth out. But I think the lemons might work. And the H2O bottle is an awesome idea, but probablly not allowed either in our corps. I'm pretty sure the guy using the water bottle said the judges never said anything. I believe he also used it when he was with Empire. It's not real big in diameter and it fits in a way that it's kind of hidden. It's not about the judges, it's about corps policy. But thanks.

  9. Anthony, I get it too. For me, I think it's nerves or just breathing so much you completely dry out your mouth... I'll bring the lemons... :P
  10. I think his name was Kevin Creasey? That was a beautiful Flugel solo in 2001. He carried the whole 2nd tune.
  11. Jon, you shouldn't put yourself, and you haven't heard our line yet this season... :P
  12. I'm not playing too loud -- the rest of the line doesn't play loud enough... :P :P :sshh:
  13. Usual Disclaimers w/Stp: :sshh: Darren West has a laser beam of sound, too...
  14. (usual disclaimer) About Star anyway... and well, all the rest listed there...w/Stp: 1995 Phantom, 1990 Star, 1992 Cadets (I know, the mellos are out of tune -- it's all about the raw emotion at the end of that show -- off the hook) 1999 Cadets (I LOVE THE MELLO PARTS. PERIOD and they were SO LOUD). Anyone worth their salt would love 1993 Blue Devils Hornline, not to mention 1995 Madison Scouts... I was there at finals in '95-- GOOD LORD!
  15. Mello 6V -- killer. The best mouthpiece for Mellophone.
  16. Hawthorne Caballeros/F Mellophone -- Yamaha
  17. Obviously you didn't get it, Jon... I own a DEG mellophone, but I prefer Kanstul as well. I no longer play a Kanstul or a DEG... Hence, Yamaha... b**bs Awesome horns.
  18. Um, none of the above... Yamaha...
  19. Hawthorne Caballeros -- MELLOPHONE
  20. I love your avatar BTW... I agree with the drummers always getting cool stuff. Us horn players are left out to dry... <**>
  21. F. Horn (and Mellophone) is my favorite, and also my demon. I love to play it, but it kicks my butt sometimes. I've been playing since I was 8 and it doesn't get any easier. But the runs and ballsy parts are all worth the effort!
  22. Sorry...I was going to head on over there on Saturday morning...but certain events from the previous night led to certain conditions the following morning that...er...made moving around problematic and painful until well after noon. Ahem. Your liver must have been protesting its existence...
