  1. I love my 2007 rookie mellophone class, and you Ray sir, are one of the best. See you Sunday.
  2. I agree with you, but I guess we march at Cabs to play Latin music. It's just expected. Something we looked forward to when joining the corps. And I am not one to buck tradition. I respect your opinion sir. I hope to chat over a beer someday and meet you in person. And I respect your opinion as well, sir. This is a free country and I did not mean to come off as disrespectful. Thanks for the luck, and see you on the field!
  3. Anyone that knows me personally, knows how much I love my beloved Caballeros. Knows also that I am not a mean spirited or hateful person, but am very passionate about the drum corps activity and my friends. That being said, if this sounds a little annoyed, well, it's because I am. And I will only apologize to my fellow Caballeros, past, present, and future. Forgive me, but I feel too strongly about this. I think my brethren have covered this well, but... I know personally, that I have waited/wanted to play the musical selections of 2008 since 1995 when I was with the Orange & Blue team. It's also been my personal experience that if people attack or flame another team it's usually out of jealousy. They have no idea why, but they bash anyway. This is a VERY personal experience and I KNOW what I speak of. Not me bashing, but wondering why those around me did bash, coming to realize they were jealous and unhappy they could not have the success of the team they were bashing. I think John Smith (CabsAlumniDrummer) said it the best the Caballeros are steeped in a great tradition and have absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of, or justify ANYTHING to ANYONE. I love people that have convictions. Caballeros have them, too, and will not roll over and die. Our voice will be heard on the field, as that's where we let our actions do the talking. I hope everyone comes to a show this season and makes their own decision about "same old ####", then come and talk to anyone of us about it over a beer in the parking lot. See you at the Post on Sunday November 25th for the Open House. I will be the short mellophone player standing between Josh Katz and a vet tuba player to be named on Sunday. Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving. Gobble Gobble. VIVA LA HAWTHORNE!! CABALLERO PRIDE!!
  4. I smell an ambush... :P :P Thank you Frank. You will soon learn, young squire, that Dennis Argul, quite simply: IS THE MAN.
  5. I think Frank very much likes his spot in the Alumni. Not that I wouldn't love to march with him. I never got the opportunity. Michael "Gordito" Ferriera and Mike Celia have been holding there own. Sprinkle in some Adam Berger and Drew Wilkie and who knows what might happen...
  6. That note would be an A I believe, and it was none other than Mike Winfield and Andy Grilk playing that baritone duet with the sopranos (Andy is the one that lasered the A at the end), Timmy Campbell, Frank Ponzo, and I'm not sure of the other soprano. Some on here has GOT to know the answer to that. And to think I married a guy that I thought would pull me out of corps, and it turned out when we joined the Caballeros, he loves it just as much as I do. I'm a lunatic when it comes to drum corps, especially my beloved Caballeros. I made Brian Grilk a CD entitled: "Shut up and Break Things: Our Great Caballero Tradition" Packed with 8 of our mutual favorite shows. People think I'm a nut when I'm driving the parkway or going to the market because I pretend to play and finger the parts and sing all the mellophone parts or soprano/trumpet solos and always point my index finger up in the air when a super soprano soloist kills babies with a high note. GOD! I'm a ll fired up now. Is it November 25th yet!?!?!?!?!? CABALLERO PRIDE!!!!
  7. Oh, but I cannot wait for the high leg lift in Malaguena... This is every Caballeros dream come true. I have waited, and my dream is about to come true. CABALLERO PRIDE!!! HA! Epic is the word of "The Usual Suspects" and a word well known to my beloved Caballeros. What about Mellophone screamers? From what I remember of this "epic" music, there is a mellophone WAILING in a solo/duet with some other brass players. I hear Josh Katz is ready for this task. ^0^ God!!! I want to break things and pound my fist into my couch and steering wheel as I crank my stereo to MAX VOLUME of ALL my favorite Caballero shows. VIVA LA HAWTHORNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Oh dear lord. Ramoooone, get Jerome a new foot. KNNNNNOOWW!!!!
  9. Are tickets still available? I realized after reading a few threads today that I want to be there and see everyone, not just send a check. I emailed to the address listed in the 1st post. If not, I'll send some money Jerome's way...
  10. Dennis is the man. He really should be on Jeopardy! and put us all to shame. Would ya? ^0^ ^0^ ^0^
  11. I am...confused. Doesn't take much I suppose.
  12. Welcome to the Caballeros Mr. Riley! I speak for the mellophones when I say we're looking forward to working under you. Er, with you. CHEERS!
  13. Quite a few people once told me between 10 and 12 years ago when I was with another team, that I would never regret my decision to be a Caballero. I dismissed it, as I was loyal to that other team at the time. I have thanked those people again, and again. And want to thank them again. The people that came into my life more than 10 years ago: Timmy Campbell, Frank Ponzo, Sean Glennon, Fran Alise (MacIntyre), Rose Cataneo, and Chris Mignemi. The people that made me feel welcome and helped me make the decision to stay with the corps March 15-16, 2003: Josh Katz (my Partner of Peeling Paint), Matt Dodd, Mike Durburow, Chris Fontanelle, Mark Spinney and Sean Glennon (Pain and Panic -- I love you like brothers and want to beat you like red headed step children! You are both amazing and great friends), Mike Longdo, Gary Gill, Louie Stork (thanks for the drink Louie!), John and Rob Gerdes, (for helping me truly understand what it means to don kickpleats and proving to you both that I wasn't "trouble"), Bobby Delaney, Brian Grilk. God, the list goes on. But these people made it EASY to become a Caballero for my first year. To really "get it", spend more than 3 years with my beloved Caballeros, and you will NEVER want to leave. CABALLERO PRIDE!
  14. I read it fast and thought it said "mark your DOT books". I put so much effort into mine for the 2007 season, I framed it. See ya'll on the 25th.
  15. Come down to Post 199 in Hawthorne and meet and greet all of us Caballeros and become part of the family. You will NEVER regret your decision to wear kickpleats. Get it CABS! CABALLERO PRIDE!!
  16. Baby powder on flicked drums for effect, and a horn block that has to run through said powder cloud is not fun. Especially in an encore. I speak from experience. 2003.
  17. Congratulations. I was on retreat with the Caballeros and I was smiling as I watched the jumbo-tron filled with Ray Yenshaw getting award after award. I'm happy you guys are "getting the band back together". Many years of success for you!! Laura Michele' Stevens Sunrisers 1994-1998, 2002 Soprano 1994-1995 Lead Mellophone 1996-1998, 2002
