  1. 24 hours have passed this someone on here made a comment outside of a news feed post. Have 24 hours ever passed on here without a comment? Imagine next year.
  2. While some may think there are Bigfoots (Bigfeet?) mixed in with the marching band, it's actually what happened with Crown's 2009 uniforms after a very rainy summer and no mowing.
  3. Wow - It was a lot of fun to watch her reaction! When things get better and DCI has a finals broadcast again, they should invite her as a guest commentator.
  4. I really like your idea and I think with the use of app technology and cell phones it is achievable. However, how do you account for rabid squirrels attacking individual members marching outside? Worse yet, say you are a member from the upper west who now has Murder Hornets to deal with - and while doing your GPS drill suddenly have to fend off an attack? What kinds of uniforms would protect from stings from Murder Hornets? I suspect shakos would regain popularity as they at least protect the head until a Murder Hornet discovers a space between head and shako. I hope scenarios like this are accounted for.
  5. I always thought Les Chatelaines de Laval were the first corps to use "furniture" but I might be wrong.
  6. Your answer raises some interesting ideas so thank you. There is the challenge of housing if corps are to perform in the same venue. Some in the know on here have already stated how challenging housing was before the pandemic. If schools are resistant to housing, perhaps hotels could accommodate corps members at reduced rates for the short tour. The hotel industry is as severely affected by current events as many others. Just a thought. ___________ As for corps member performing via zoom from home (wondering if said in jest), I suspect drill aka "marching and maneuvering" would be affected by the placement of home furnishings. Formations might not be as perfect as possible due to the lack of space caused by couches, desks, comfy chairs, etc. Tripping on a throw rug could completely offset a company front. Would that require a temporary new judging category perhaps called "GF" (General Furnishing)? If so would it be incorporated as part of GE or Guard? If cushions are used as part of the performance perhaps it would be part of Guard as they are easy to toss.
  7. I asked a question as to how "virtual" would work. The term had been used many times on here.
  8. I don't know. Perhaps you have some ideas as to how virtual would work? All corps competing at the same location? What about housing? I suspect virtual is used as a catch all for a lot of unknowns.
  9. How exactly would a virtual tour work from a competition standpoint? Judging via Flo marching broadcast?
  10. I have reported everyone to the fashion police because I know none of you are wearing any pants while online.
  11. Speaking of Will Robinson Jim, Here is a corps management team/staff until we know more.
  12. Imagine what it does to Life Insurance policies going forward.
  13. I can't imagine how this event is going to affect legal contracts going forward. Up until now, was "pandemic" ever a clause in a legal contract in North America? Honestly, I don't know, but in the ones I have been exposed to personally, I never saw "pandemic."
  14. With all the unknowns is it even possible to save money with a shortened season? One unexpected event could be disastrous financially. One thing that comes to mind is will corps be able to get affordable insurance should they move forward with a shortened season? I may be wrong, but I'm thinking that costs like this are going to be significantly more expensive than they were in the past. The fine print on insurance contracts will probably be much longer than the usual boilerplate.
  15. I can't imagine the effort required to build a contingency plan right now.
  16. I'm still thinking about your cappuccino Jim.... I'm wondering if I can sort of create the same thing by putting a couple of Werthers Originals into a cup of Maxwell House...
  17. I can't sleep on a plane. I flew 20 hours to Hong Kong wide awake. I was okay when I arrived - the excitement of going overtook any exhaustion. Coming back I didn't sleep either. I had jet lag so bad after I arrived home I swear I was in an alternate reality for about a week.
  18. That sounds so delicious but if I had something like that right now I would never get to sleep.
  19. I know what I want to do.... ....where is my beer? I just had it a minute ago.
  20. Just announced...our 2nd lockdown has been extended a month. It was originally only supposed to be 28 days. It's going to be a long winter.
