  1. Love him or hate him, Hopkins won a DCI title in his very first year as corps director. I don't know if that has ever been done before or since.
  2. Requiem was awesome. I remember Suncoast arcing up and playing to us after a show somewhere down south and all of our jaws just hitting the ground. I will NEVER forget it. What an amazing horn line.
  3. As mentioned, it was Whitewater finals in 1984 when it happened. I am not sure who caused the pile up, but the guy who was hurt the worst was a 16 year old soprano named Kevin Cook. He was on crutches for a few days, missed some shows with a bad sprain, but was able to return a short time later. The first z-pull was in 1983.
  4. Come to think of it, '62 is probably the year that MY uniform was new as well!
  5. The 1984 Snare Line, Bridgeport Connecticut parade. It was too hot to wear our tops.
  6. In 1969, women were permitted to march with Garfield for the first time.
  7. The Cadets on parade at the 1959 American Legion Nationals in Minneapolis. By 1960 the Corps scraped enough money together to purchase duplicates of their old Cadet uniform.
  8. In 1958 the Corps broke ties with the Holy Name parish and became the Garfield Cadets. The Church wouldn't allow the Corps to wear their own uniforms or use their equipment. So, the Corps got a new look for a while. These drums were lent by The Cavaliers.
