  1. Spot on. People see what they want to see.I heard people say after Thursday night why didnt George just come onto the field and not bring the whole corps to just turn them around. See, and now we have complaining because he does just that. ###### if you do and ###### if you dont.
  2. I made a similar point earlier and I wholeheartedly believe after Thursday night that the booers are doing just as much to ruin this activity as they claim GH is. It's hard to blame people if they were never taught how to act responsibly in public. I blame my generation for raising a bunch of hoodlums who never heard no and have no respect for themselves let alone others. I dont care what year it is or what corps is on the field it is never appropriate to boo artistic performers.
  3. Hey here's a crazy thought by-pass this thread and every other one that discusses the Cadets. Problem solved. As a huge Cadets fan I cant help but to laugh at this. Too funny.
  4. I dont know but I'm not buying this theory and here's why. If the Cadets laid it all out on Friday night the fact remains that they still didnt pass BD so, what did Thursday night have to do with costing them a chance at the title? Personally I think the Cadets show was championship quality and one I will love for years but the judges thought differently. I dont see the hash mark issue affecting anything other than Thursday nights scores.
  5. I'm sorry but the irony meter just blew a gasket. There are pages upon pages and thread after thread dedicated to nothing but personal attacks on the Cadets and their director that have been completely ignored by staff and those perrsonal attacks are OK because why? Really this is a rhetorical question because I've been around here long enough to know that certain subjects on here get a blind eye- the Cadets and GH top that list year in and year out. I'm really surprised no one sees this.
  6. Up until seeing this show I never had one to take my breath away. This I believe did just that and more. The demand and execution--over the top. I will rate every subsequent show against this one because to me it set a new benchmark. Go Cadets- you have so much class!!!
  7. I applaud them all and then the judges decide who wins and who loses. If I dont like a particular corps I either suffer through it (politely) or leave before they start. I call that common decency and yes I expect a lot from my fellow fans. Maybe I shouldn't. :(
  8. Sorry but that is hogwash. If you (general) want to boo go ahead and boo your head off but on the same token I am going to call it like I see it-idiotic, classless behavior. If I cant call it as I see it then you are imposing on me, no? I think it should go both ways. All of this anything goes crap has given us a society with no manners that do as they please because people are too afraid to uphold any set of standards. Booing shouldnt be done at an art performance period am I going to try and change the rules to forbid it- no, that's silly and unAmerican.
  9. Yeah I was buying that at first until I heard the rest of the story. They not only booed when Hop turned them around but after they reentered the field and starting performing the boos continued. If you want to believe the booing was in good taste or that there is any way in hell for the marching members to differentiate between boos for show concept and boos for performance you have a better imagination than I. I've seen the venom on here and the morons who booed have done everything but turn themselves inside out to rationalize their classless behavior. I prefer to call a spade a spade and booing the Cadets or any drum corps while they are performing is as low as it gets.
  10. fwiw I would be just as adament about booing if it were any corps. There simply is no place for it in this activity. imo, of course. Hopkins either has some good ideas or he pays off the other directors because contrary to popular belief he doesnt do these things on his own. Last I heard they actually vote on proposals and the ones with the most votes get passed. Imagine that.
  11. At least we agree on the booing...:) As to the rest of your post- Do you know exactly what happened? As I understand it when the Cavies exited the field they were complaining about the missing hash marks and didnt they have a fall? I'm asking because I dont want to put my spin on this. Lets just keep it to the facts. The directors all agreed that the field would be re-lined and it wasnt done properly- fact. GH asked for DCI to do what they promised- fact. If GH was acting out why did DCI re-line the field? That in and of itself should be self evident that Hop did not ask for anything unreasonable. Just because other directors took the chance doesnt automatically mean GH should or the other way around. Each director does what he thinks best for his corps. What's amazing is that has turned into GH asking for the moon/throwing temper tantrums/trying to upset the competition/you name it. That is simply not the case if we can stick to the facts.
  12. I'm really not that concerned about the members of the Cadets because I know they have more class than any idiot that boos them. Tons more. They are tough or they wouldn't be marching in one of the top corps- year in and year out. This is about so called fans who dont have the good sense to act responsibly in public. I wonder how much is about jealousy that perhaps they didn't have what it takes to march with a corps that demands top talent. Not everyone my friend can march Cadets. They take the cream of the crop and from seeing their show this year their talent pool hasnt dipped one bit.
  13. What are you talking about- acting like the Cadets? True enough- there are not many corps at the level of the Cadets and the Cadets do attract the top talent but still that is no reason to boo them - even if you dont like their show. I didn't care for several shows this year but had enough common sense not to make a fool of myself by booing a group a kids. Come on! Booing is for morons when it comes to an art performance - by kids for goodness sake. This isn't major league ball no matter how DCI chooses to market the activity just like I'm not really a pony even if I call myself one. ($1 to Dan)
  14. I couldn't agree more. The cause is that some people have NO class and are rude. Perhaps they simply cant control themselves, never learned how or (one of my mom's favorites) they were raised in a barn. Either way it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Cadets "behavior", whatever THAT means.
  15. I'm beginning to hear conflicting accounts of what really happened. I simply assumed from all of the pretzel-twisting going on that the booing was a one shot deal directed at Hop as he was removing the Cadets from the field. Is that what really happened OR did the booing continue even when they came back out and starting performing? One is bad enough but the other is in a league all of its own. <**> to everyone classless enough to boo a corps on finals week. Unfreakinbelievable and from so called fans of the activity. I'd bet the moronic booers are the very same ones claiming Hop is bringing the activity down. yeah, right.
  16. Oh so if you think booing is for morons and cowards you must now be a borg member? I suppose you dont read too well because yesterday fans of all corps not just the Cadets spoke out against it. Facts are such pesty little inconveniences.
  17. What's with all of the comparisons with DC kids and soldiers? I suppose there is one comparison to make even if you disagree with the war most people are decent enough not to take it out on our service men and women. Same should go here---while we're comparing and all, no?
  18. I'm trying to find the chatroom drumcorps but dont know where to look.
  19. Wow, you give him a lot of credit. Do you think he can do this alone? What about the other directors, I suppose you think their votes dont count. Lesson of the day- Just because someone has a keyboard and access to the internet doesn't mean they know what they're talking about and that is no more evident than here on DCP.
  20. I think this is the first time I've laughed today reading through all of the hate. Thx.
  21. Yeah, well this is off topic but I emailed them back in '04 after spending a couple of hundred bucks on two great seats for the three shows in Denver. Our section seemed to attract every corps member that didnt make semi's or finals and they chatted, laughed, talked on cell phones, hit each other, ran every corps through the mud, and just overall acted like misbehaving toddlers. I spoke to the usher at one point because I was ticked and he said they can sit anywhere there is an empty seat. Well eff that, it was my last finals. DCI never had the decency to even respond to my email. In other words I wouldnt hold my breath. :)
  22. I don't know maybe it's me but boo'ing seems like a cowardly way to effect change or to show dissatisfaction. Anyone can stand with a crowd of people and show their arse it doesn't take one ounce of courage or initiative. Sad, really.
