  1. It is great that they are spending time in front of the pit. They are, after all, part of the percussion ensemble. In a perfect world, the PA judge would evenly and fairly sample every single section of the percussion ensemble. Parking in front of the pit for over 8 minutes of the show doesn't give a fair read of all of the sections, no matter how experienced, impartial, etc., the judge may be.
  2. I heard trouble was there in November, but I was 2100 miles away so I don't know who you're trying to pin all this supposed trouble on. You must be thinking of Leslie.
  3. they'll be fine.. string bean might even be skinnier than the drawing.
  4. the show has actually moved to McDowell High School as of last year. They have new turf on the field there.. actually, they also replaced the old astro turf at Vet's Stadium a couple years ago where the show was held before.
  5. I'm apparently in the minority here, but I didn't really like it. I had terrible seats the last time I saw it, so maybe I will enjoy it more tonight in the second round. To me the music was ok, but I wish they'd just pick a piece and go with it. I like their sound and everything but the show just left me saying "...eh". It certainly is not as pleasing to me as 2007 was... One thing I did enjoy was watching that short little trumpet player jazz run around everywhere.. she got whipped around into all kinds of places.
  6. I'd love to play in Beaver Stadium, but Penn State would be an ok venue at best... State Park is basically in the middle of nowhere, it doesn't have all that much aside from PSU and it certainly doesn't have an airport any larger than Erie's - in fact, I believe it does NOT have an airport. Plus.. good luck trying to get Beaver Stadium on the opening weekend of NCAA football.
  7. Mallet and low brass players - we'd love to see you at Avoca HS this upcoming weekend! Even if it is just to check us out for a weekend, we'd love to have ya. The White Sabers have been off to an amazing start this spring! 2/3 of our exciting show is currently on the field, but we need a few more people to make it perfect - mostly low brass players; also a vibe player and a rack percussionist to compliment our huge pit. We're also looking for a drum major. The very talented staff and equally talented membership are determined as ever to make this show great. We've got the members, staff, music, equipment, and drill to do it; all we need is just a few more people. We have members from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and all over New York - if you'd like a ride, we can easily get you one. The White Sabers are a DCA Class A corps that is entering their 4th year of competition and are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year. Our web site is: www.whitesabers.org We fully intend to make our 80th anniversary something very special for everyone and we hope that you can help us out! Send me a message on here, email me at jme5067@psu.edu, talk to me on AIM @ th1nkjbuick, or you can email Director Mark Gerber at drumcpmark@frontiernet.net. Thanks! Julia - Front Ensemble Tech (and sometimes visual tech, too)
