  1. Madison 2005 right as the police sirens begin...someone yells "bombs away" also, during Carmen's entrance dance, someone yells "you go girl!" makes me smile
  2. Definetly agree. Within the drumline and the guard, there are subsections that get the majority of the attention (ie, snares and weapons). I spent the majority of my years marching on the flag line. The rifles and sabres ALWAYS got the most focus, not saying that we didnt get our corrections as well. Once I was on the rifle line, I realized how much the staff focuses on the weapons and sometimes forgets about the flags. With the drumline, the basses are undoubtedly overlooked. I always heard comments from the box to snares and tenors, but rarely the basses. The bassdrummers carry those drums on their shoulders, I give them much props. I guess neither section is as easy as it appears.
  3. Madison got recognized for the difficulty in their show. Granted in wasnt as clean as it could be. The book they were given was something new and challenging. The modern dance and spinning style has never been attempted by a Madison guard...or to my knowledge, RARELY any other guard. Judges saw the musicality, difficulty, and use of the triad. Finally, just consider this, dont base the entire season on Finals night. ANYWAY, back to Boston...Shapiro is great. I love his work and design. Its a great step for the BAC guard. Did they say what happened to Dean?
  4. just a quick comment... they were not "capes" or "cape thingys" they ARE animal skin blankets. Tribal warriors used them to keep themselves warm or as camoflauge while hunting. The opener was entitled "the Hunt", hence the design choice to have them.
  5. about the PR guard cuts.. according to my friends that march(ed) there...if the SCV or new girls auditioning were more talented, then the vet spots were up for grabs. I dont know of a lot of vets that were cut, but I do know of some that were once on weapon, but then became "flag-tastic".
  6. Crossmen i believe it was 2004 finals guard/horn pass through, guard girl drops her rifle leading to a subsequent taking out of a line of trumpets as she goes to retrieve it. the downfall of guard/horn drill integration...drops, missed drill spots, and the like can have bad outcomes
  7. i've seen a lot of Cavies 03 on here. not to stir anything up, but what was so "WOW" about it? seriously, let me know so i can watch again an try to see what you all see.
  8. i do believe 03 was the last year we used Bogey? the parade tune is now "76 trombones"
  9. I COMPLETELY agree with you. My senior year we went to the BOA Regional held there. There were no big problems, great warmup areas, and IMO, it was one of the best domes i've performed in. The echo/reverb will always be there in domes, but the ones in this dome werent bad at all. This was a great venue to have a show at, amazing. I'm greatly excited to go back...memories, the 2times ive competed there were my final year of h.s marching band and my ageout of DCI....love it
  10. at madison we spraypaint our poles and use the clear contact paper. We've done this for the past 2yrs. its a nice look to be able paint the poles to match your flags. repairing the poles can be a hassle. repainting...recontacting... after having many shows in the rain, the glue on the contact paper can come undone.
  11. Personally, i choose 2000 then its between 93 and 92 for second. 2000 was AMAZING. a nearly flawless weapon line and performance and projection like none other. the diva in the pink dress who tosses a port 7 on sabre and catches it so hard you can see it wiggle, AH!! love it! 93 and 92 had uniforms that fit perfectly with their respective themes. Cadets consistently have strong weapon lines. Flag work in EVERY closer always leaves me with my jaw hanging open. The only show that I have a problem with is Stonhenge. Canterberry Chorale is a beautiful ballad and the double flag work fit well. However, the flag line in the closer makes me wanna vom. Timing, ticks, and drops all the time. Definetly a let down, but the weapon line pulls through.
