  1. 2005 - "Rhapsody" Aside from the male solo performer (who didn't touch any traditional guard equipment), that all female guard was quite phenomenal. 2006 - "Faust" The 6 male "demons" added a great effect to the show, BUT look at the big guard feature moments of the show (flag features in the opener, Ave Maria, and end of the show...the majority of the closer offered an excellent all female sabre line)...they were all female and executed quite brilliantly. I've always love the PRCG. I preferred the all female guard and am REALLY excited to see it return. There is something elegant, graceful, and beautiful about an all female guard. For me, that always distinguished Phantom from everyone else.
  2. Pride has officially announced their show! "Summer of Love" This is the dawning of the age of aquarius! Messages and themes from the turbulent times of the 60's that are still relevant today. Can't wait for this production!
  3. If anyone is interested...check out Crown Guard 2009. They did a stunning performance of "The Prayer Cycle" and I believed placed 9th at WGI finals.
  4. So...Jim Moore Vanguard lists him as Colorguard Designer Scouts has him a Choreographer/Colorguard Designer For 2008/2009, he wrote the corps body movements for Crown. How many places can you be at once? Granted, SCV also has Carol and Greg as designers (wow, what a team)
  5. BD: 2008. Love that show. SOOO much better than 2009. Crown: 2009 Cadets: 2009 Cavies: 2009 SCV: 2009 Bloo: 2008, but IMO, the 2009 guard was the best they've had since 2005 BAC: rarely enjoy them. I guess I'll got with 09 Blue Stars: 2008 PR: 2008, obviously BK: NEVER enjoy them. But I will admit, 2009 was a nice show for them Glassmen: I don't remember 2008, so i guess that means 2009 Troopers 2009! 2008: 4 2009: 8
  6. I'm VERY interested to see the announcement of the Guard Staff. With the creation of Fleur-de-Lis Winterguard and last year's staff being the winterguard staff, will the Scouts make a bold move and do another switcheroo?
  7. 1. 2003 (my 1st year in the corps and favorite show that I marched) 2. 2005 (its Carmen, c'mon) 3. 2001 (GREAT music!) 4. 2004 (best guard I had marched) 5. 2006 (overall, I enjoyed everything in the show. The drill was WAY too hard and concept a little shady) 6. 2008 (love a good comeback show!) 7. 2000 (this show was generally a mess, but the drumline was quite ferocious and the closer was in your face) 8. 2007 (i like listening to the show, but that's about it) 9. 2002 10. 2009
  8. I'd assume that its a little of both. When I marched, we had technicians that cleaned each section. Every now and then, the writer would clean their own work or step in if something wasn't cleaned to their satisfaction.
  9. Strongly disagree. Crown's weapon book surpasses anything PR did last year. Thats some GREAT Michael Townsend choreography right there. These weapons are doing a lot more than any other guard right now, my belief as to why they might still be dirty. As for the Crown flags...typical Adam Sage flag line. Cute twirls, but dirty. For me, PR 08 is the only Adam Sage guard that never lived up to the potential of the book they were given. PR 05-07 were some pretty great guards, the best he's put out. SCV 04 was great too, as well as the 03 guard. But go back and watch the shows on high cam, focus on the flag line. There is significantly more dirt than other guards. Hopefully it will pull together. Crown Guard has always been one of my favorites. They are still good this year, but the surprising amount of dirt that remains is catching a lot of us fans off guard (no pun intended)
  10. that was my 3rd year in the corps. we never beat the cavies head to head...BUT we were ranked 1st for a couple days around that time, I believe it was the Cedarburg show that gave us the highest score.
  11. LOVE THIS SHOW. its on my Top 25 Most Played on my Ipod AND Itunes. for me...its one of the best guards Phantom has produced (minus the uniform)
  12. YEP! It goes a little like these Jenifo Leseth (Crown to SCV) Dave Meikle (SCV to Bluecoats) Rick Subel (Bluecoats to Phantom) Adam Sage (Phantom to Crown)
  13. I was at the Fairfield show last night. Here's a few of my comments. Blue Stars had a MUCH better run than Phantom's guard. The Phantomettes had many issues regarding excellence and achievement. Their guard book is good, the performers just aren't at the level they should be. According to my friends in the guard, last night was one of their worst runs. Personally, the flags that Phantom are spinning add to the dirt. Thought they are pretty, there's A LOT going on on those silks. They were much cleaner at rehearsal with their practice silks. As for Blue Stars, they are quite phenomenal. For those who don't know, Michael Shapiro directs Corona Winterguard, who received the silver medal at WGI in april. Much of the those members also march Blue Stars...and it shows. Shapiro's guards typically have an intense guard book and consistently achieve at a high level. As they get comfortable with their book, they will only get better...the same goes for Phantom.
  14. If it fit the show the were doing, then i'd be fine with it. Rainbow fits in with the motif/theme of Crown's show. Makes perfect sense to me and is one of my favorite moments of Crown's show.
  15. It all goes back to WGI. WGI only defines rifles, sabres, flags, and the sickle/curved rifles as "equipment". Anything else that is spun doesn't go in the equipment caption but relegated to being a part of the ensemble and effect. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but that is what I thought. There is a certain technique for each piece of equipment. The day that NEW sabre or rifle comes out that works for most of the colorguard world and that is widely used, the day that is becomes legit to use. The rifle will never be "replaced", the concept will just evolve...hence, the creation/usage of the sickle rifle. As for, guards of today "mistreating" or "disrespecting" their equipment...thats just silly and the sign of vets of the "old school" finding something else to nitpick. I can do double-time and triple time. I can toss doubles. Guards of today do more and are expected to grasp the basics quickly and excel at them, but the notion of them being a bulk of the equpiment work has passed.
