  1. http://books.aol.com/feature/_a/excerpt-10...022115309990001 Alice In Wonderland and Faust were both listed as some of the most influencial, albeit, fake people in history. This is a good read in and of itself. Someone feel free to move this if would be considered off topic. Bond made the list as well. Hmm...Maybe we aren't so far out of the box afterall.
  2. I saw "The Door" at Rockford. The guys there were joking about it making great firewood! I wish I would've gotten a snapshot with it.
  3. So it's root, root, root for the Cubbies... If they don't win it's a shame!
  4. Cop, who were you posting for? If he didn't respond, surely someone would. I don't understand how you can be an alumni without being a "true" alumni as well.
  5. It's interesting that the academies can compete when the actual service versions are not even allowed to perform within a certain time frame from each other so that the public cannot "draw comparisons" between them. I know this is true for the service drill teams (who apparently got in trouble for competing last year) but does anyone know if that's true for the bands/corps of each service? I got my info straight from the coach of the Navy Ceremonial Honor Guard drill team (who also go talked to since he hosted the competition...).
  6. ...No first poster. It became about winning when corps starting pushing each other to get better. And it's still only superficially about winning. ...No third poster. Just no. :(
  7. People, remember- he only has two posts... Oh this'll be interesting...As if it hasn't been discussed enough already...And in terms of REAL qualities that aren't "best theme" and emotion... :lolhit:
  8. Then Hrothgar, state your opinion and let it be. You don't need to defend yourself against every post responding to your opinion. Let people state their opinions and DROP IT. There's no need to be defensive about everything. Go out and get some fresh air. But if you live anywhere in IL, I don't recommend it- see, after the hot weather of Monday, we have snow in the air today. :P Then again, maybe the cold would do you good. I feel that the inclusion of amplification is good for the activity even if I disagree with SOME usage of it. That's my opinion. I will now proceed NOT to respond to every line of every post following this one. ;)
  9. Wait, Hrothgar has been seeing shows for a shorter period of time than me? I was almost taking his opinion seriously...I thought I was a n00b...:( I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The people who try to force theirs on others are the kind of people whose opinions I find easiest to dismiss after consideration.
  10. They have a phrase for people who would change on a dime like that. "Fair weathered fans". In fact, Chicago is full of them. But as a Cubs fan, it's better to stick with your beliefs even when you don't like how it's going...
  11. But if we do think that Drum Corps falls under the umbrella label of "marching band" then we aren't fans and we never will be?
