  1. Just Posted on the academy's website. http://www.arizonaacademy.org/nm/publish/news_178.php Taking a much different direction this year musically. Spanish music! Im thrilled to hear about it and can only imagine how they will interpret this concept on the feild!
  2. We most certainly did not do 10 minutes. We did five max, and that was more than most of us could take......well, more than most of us euphs could take.
  3. 14 trumpets (parts 1-3) 6 flugel (unison) 10 mello (parts 1-2) 10 baris (parts 1-2) 10 Euphs (parts 1-2) 10 contras (parts 1-2, sometimes split)
  4. Heh, funny anecdote (sp?) My first band director marched horn with VK in 84 and 85 i believe. Perhpas someone knows him, eric kicsher? Anyway, to say the least, he was a pretty no-nonsense kinda guy, very militaristic. I found it ironic he came from VK. He now holds down a DEA job.
  5. I know scv used french horns in 89, thats the last I saw em, and ###### if they wern't loud as anything during several parts in that show. Definatly a classic.
  6. I've talked to folks who've marched the dynasty and kanstul models. I myself march the kanstul euph, and while I definatly have quivles about the wieght I will say its unbelievably well balanced. Those that I have talked to echo that and say that while the Dynasty in reality weighs less, it can actually feel worse because of its main body compactness and its extended bell, which can make it feel like most of the wieght is on the bell. Not sure I'd take that too well at all... Anybody got any specs on PR's new Kings? Those things look sweet. And sound even better!
  7. Its actually pretty simple. Whatever you read in treble cleff, just take the note up two spaces. If its in a space, take it up two spaces, if its on a line, take it up two lines. If its sharp in treble cleff, you'll have the natural note in bass cleff. I could explain the rules of its relations to sharps and flats, but that would take a while and Im a little pressed for time. But thats a good tool to use to get used to hearing and seeing the similarities.
