    Help!

the more you play the more your range improves...along with tone and shiz. one thing though is consistency. i know if i miss practicing for one day (all my friends can attest to this) i sound like complete crap 2 days after my missed day of practice. Bigger mouthpieces are rly good. schilke 51/52d's. bach 5g. those are all good for baritones. lip slurs rly help ur range. long tones help alot too. they strengthen the corners of your mouth alot provided you have the right embochure...if u dnt then you're just wasting your time. air is a good thing to have too. use alot..its free. breathing excersice are nice to have. as far as excersice books go, get an arban's or be a bum and "borrow" your friends book and make a copy of a page and play it till you master it. have fun
  2. schilke 52d cuz i have to............. i dont like it. give me bach or give me death. or dont cuz i'll get cut for playin on one probably.....sure it has a deep cup and stuff but a bach is better i think
  3. play whatever moves ur soul..... i dunno. try something that you like listening to and something that you actaully want to play. something you know you can put alot of energy into. that energy always comes in handy when auditioning

blue devils madison cavies ? ?
  5. i would do anything not to play on my yamaha again. i just dont like it after one season of marching band. yes i said marching band in a drumcorps forum. shoot me. at least i wont have to play on that yamaha again. crap just falls apart. ITS FREAKIN NEW TOO!!!! well ok a year old before the season i used it.
  6. eww yamaha. lol. bad experience :sshh:
  7. french horn definately. trombone i think just might be the easiest once u get the hang of it unless you somehow get a nutcase 16th note thingy in your music. happens evry now and then. tuning is really not a problem at all. you just have to "know" where to put your slide. sometimes im having a sharp day so all my slide positions get moved out. sometimes the person next to me is a bit flat so i pull in for all positions. also its a matter of hearing what pitch to you want to play. playing bass sometimes isnt so much fun especially since alot of times you are expected to play louder than everybody else in your section. not an easy thing to do in the tbone section i play in at school
  8. try a bigger mouthpeice. it will allow a darker thicker sound down in the depths of the 3rd part. alot of corps use schilke 51D's or 52D's. i personally prefer bach mouthpieces over schilke. dont ask why. I use a 1 !/2G for my bass t-bone and that would probably work well but i wouldnt recomend switching from the tiny 12c to the toliet bowl 1 1/2. and anyway i dont think they make those 1 1/2's in small shank so you would need a large shank baritone like a yamaha...... but dont go out and buy a yamha. PM me if you want an explanation. errr yeah go with schilke. those mouthpiece are pretty good for any bari player.
  9. dont think they make 6 1/2 AI.
  10. I love dynasty baritones. they give me no problems. as for intonation. intonation is up to the player not the bari.
