  1. I know this is a little late, but thank you so much. My dad bled this activity. He was a part of it since he was a young teen. It didn't matter if it was Jr. or Sr., color guard or marching bands. If it was the marching arts, it was his passion. It WAS and IS his family. No wonder why I have been luck to have been a part of it for the past 25 years. Pineville was his pride and joy. Having his friends coming in that weekend... well, Dad talked about it for 6 months before and 6 months after. He loved the stories, the friends, the drinks and the fun. It was HIS time, and it was his favorite. Dad may not be there this summer physically, but he will be there. No doubt. He wouldn't miss it for the world. Especially to say how much the Cabs will win this summer and how great SCV is. :) Thank you all again.
  2. I have to say that this years DCA Finalists have been top notch. Great programs and great entertainment!
  3. Thank you for doing this today! I know you all had some technical difficulties in the beginning, but you all kept it going! Great job! Congrats to all of the performers tonight.
  4. Thanks Tom! Dad (once again) became Mayor of Pineville down at JBC this summer. I was the only Beyer to leave Allentown this weekend... Basically what I saw was the Honor Guard marching towards the front corner of the field. The hornline was coming onto the field and arcing up on the field and some of their members had passed the Honor Guard while marching to said arc. (I wish there was a "drill maker" option on here to show what I mean... Kind of like the 'dotbook' application for the iPhone) So it's a no harm, no foul (although serious faux pas) if a member passes the Honor Guard but nothing else is to lead in front of the American Flag... I think I got it. :)
  5. Just an innocent question... I swear... Is there a penalty for passing the Honor Guard as they are leading the Corps onto the field? Someone I was sitting with had noticed corps arcing up for warm up on the field and the leader of the arcs were passing the Honor Guard as they were walking past and made a comment about it. I had thought there was, but then again, I haven't been on the field in a few years.
  6. All I know is that those bad boys went up last night and he was there by 11 today. Glassmen were stretching by the corps entrance gate when I drove by... Only bad part is that there is no parking in the "Cinder bowl". It's fenced off since they are adding onto the HS up the street and parking their equipment there so there won't be bus parking there this summer.
  7. Well, I'm 2 blocks away from the stadium now. It's humid out... you can tell it's on it's way, but the sun is trying to stay out. I'm hoping that it comes in sooner rather then later... but I'm not too sure by this- http://www.wfmz.com/wx/
  8. LOL! Well, for now, he has to trade beer in for water and Gatorade. Unless o'doulls counts...
  9. Hello everyone! Just giving you all an update! They released him this afternoon and he is now resting comfortably at home with Mom, the dog and both of the cats. They said that he was recovering very well and definitely ahead of schedule. They told him that while he is at home, he has to walk for 10 minutes or so every day to get his stamina and energy going, but is really ready to get back to his 'old' life- well, a healthier old life... Thank you for everyone's support and encouragement from all of my family. It's so nice and comforting to know that this support system is here and willing to do what they can for their own.
  10. You know Jeff, they're like amplification... If done correctly, they can be quite good...
  11. :Update: Dad is out of surgery. He had a Quintuple Bypass done They found an issue with another artery and decided to fix him up while they had him open. I'm planning to go see him in a bit. Just wanted to leave an update. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers.
  12. Just talked to Dad. He is doing good. Getting irritated being in the hospital for so long, but is trying to be nice. He is still in ICU but is up and around. His surgery is Monday at 7:30am. He wanted me to tell everyone thank you for the well wishes and prayers and he will be back on his feet and will have a new story to tell everyone.
