  1. How old are those drums. I'm guessing from the description, 1960's
  2. Could that be an alto? Looks like it's missing some lead pipe.
  3. That would be even more cool. Last time I was on the same field as MBI was in 1985 at a DCM show.
  4. We are saying Senior/All Age to encourage Parents to bring their Kids and Kids to bring their Parents along. We also hope it will help with Donations and Grants later on. Also, I think Junior Corps is being squeezed to death by the longer School years being imposed by school districts in many areas of the country.
  5. Rich, thanks for the bumps. Our practice dates are posted on our Yahoo Groups site for everyone to see. I'm still waiting on confirmation of the indoor site. When it's confirmed, we will put the info on the Corps official site.
  6. The Source for money for 2006 will be membership dues. 2007 will be dues + Souvis+hopefully some local corporate.

  8. My Favorite T-s I wore until they were thread bare. Souts:Forest Green with the Madison Boy Scout Emblem. 80s VK: The "Too Cool VK" DL shirt. 80s Sky Ryders:Green shirt with white OZ. 80s Star of Indiana: I wore when I showed up to join Sky Ryders in 85. Kinda of a risky thing to do back then. Troopers: Bugle in the Western Desert scene. My wife has the same shirt with the Snare Drum instead.
  9. If your talking about G bugles, it's Kanstul. The Owner had ties with Olds and King. Our instrument repair guy drools if you mention Kanstul. He also thinks well of Olds Ultratones and Kings, both of which are no longer produced. He really doesn't like the DEG Dynasty Bugles which make up most of our current line at the moment. Others swear by them.
  10. I think groups like to have a matching line for uniformity and commonality of parts.
  11. Anyone in the KC Metro area! Our first meeting for 2006 is January 28th at the Olathe Wesleyan Church 15320 South Ridgeview Road, Olathe, KS 66062. We have the building from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The first hour is set aside for presentation and discussion. The second hour is for sectionals. b**bs :) B) Prairie Sound Drum & Bugle Corps will continue to build and start performing at local Kansas City events in 2006. We will be developing a field show for competition in DCA for 2007. We still need instructors for Horn-line, Drum-line and Colorguard. Mr. Staton has agreed to fill in as Horn-line instructor until we find a full time person. We have 2valve G Bugles for those who'd like to take it back a little. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/prairiesound/
  12. I know I have 1 King F mellophone and 2 Bd Baritones at home. I'll email you for details.
  13. With the the new DCA Central, shows for us in "flyover country" will be much easier to come by. There should be no problem getting 4 shows under our belt plus finals. Cool.
  14. It just seems to me the catagory of other Corps should be those that are paying dues but not performing for some reason. Associates should be those Corps that are paying membership to DCA and performing in competition. Member Corps should be those who made the cut for Finals. Just opinion.
  15. This is something I've been wondering about for a while. On the DCA site, what's the significance of the listing of corps in the 3 catagories of Member Corps, Associate Member Corps and Other Corps. Is it just a matter of how they rank at finals? The catagoryof Other Corps is getting to be as big as the Member Corps. I thought all the corps payed membership to DCA. What's up with that.
  16. Prairie Sound Drum & Bugle Corps of Kansas City needs people who would be interested in starting a Color Guard Section for the Corps. We are a weekend worrior Senior Corps that will be starting it's first season performing in the Kansas City Metro Area for 2006 with plans to compete in DCM and DCA in 2007. If you live in the KC Metro which includes the suburban areas of the surrounding area, email the Corps Founder Jeff Dancinger, at skyryder85n87@yahoo.com. Our 1st meeting/practice will be on the 28th of January. We will post the exact location and a map on our sites when the building location is firm. Yeah, we have a building reserved for our 1st meeting. January 28th from 1PM to 3PM at the Olathe Wesleyan Church 15320 South Ridgeview Road, Olathe, KS 66062. Check out out yahoo groups site for developments. A map should be available on our homestead site when the site manager updates the information.
  17. Look North to the Plains and get ready for battle. Music Battle that is. We will see you all (ya'll) in 2007.
  18. Not easy, just easier to deal with adults than kids. It's also easier to hold an adult to a contract than someone under age. Ask me in another year and I'll probably give a more complete answere.
  19. We will be in need of 3 Sopranos and 2 Mellophones to round out our Bugle inventory for the 2006 season. Feel Free to contact me through this site. You can also email me at skyryder85n87@yahoo.com.
  20. The hats were the same ones used in the Wizard of OZ, just converted with some plastic glued in place. I'm pretty sure the rest of the uniform was made by the support staff. I'd say the uniforms were show specific. The High Brass in white was supposed to represent the Jets and the Low Brass in Black was supposed to represent the Sharks with the Drumline being neutral wearing Grey. The Color Guard depicted the story with their Costumes and Acting. I kinda wished they would have revisited the old uniforms with the Stetson Cowboy hats at some time before leaving the Drum Corps Scene. I miss the Corps but still enjoy watching the Winter Guard in KC. Very professional and Solid performing group.

  22. Pretty Much. :sshh: I'm sure I have some much better looking Sky Ryder Stuff in a box in my closet somewhere. B)
