  1. Cavaliers 1992, Gavorkna Fanfare comes to mind. Also Cadets '91. I think the drill in that show is surprisingly dull in most parts, and I don't feel that ending the show with a park and blow was very climactic and exciting.
  2. Neato, just found out that our brass ensemble at my college is playing Ave Maria...looking forward to it!
  3. I was wondering about 77 Bridgemen too. Did they include that show in last year's polls?
  4. I noticed that too... Anyway, here are some of my first impressions of the DVDs so far (I haven't finished yet though...): Good -Cadets were just clean, clean, clean. 99.15 was not because they were near-perfect, but they were just that much better than the other corps. -Phantom's show sounded great, and as noted above, the trumpet soloist sounded great too! -Blue Devils- WOW. I knew it. I knew that even if it was 4th place it would still be on of BD's best shows. Kudos to them, I was really impressed. -Madison's drill- Not very clean, but I must say, HOLY CRAP. Best drill I've seen Madison perform in years. Peter Weber is going to do great things at SCV this next season. -SCV really stepped it up finals night...a truly great performance. Bad -Maybe it was all the hype from the summer, but in the end, Phantom's show didn't impress me much. I loved it...but I was definitely expecting more based on what I heard. -I'd been waiting for months to see the Bluecoats show, as it's my favorite show to listen to from the CDs. Was let down when I finally saw it. It wasn't all bad, but I again was expecting more from a group that sounded as good as they did. They have DEFINITELY stepped up for sure though, so they're going in the right direction. -Madison's lackluster, anticlimatic ending. Sorry to sound so negative, but not only was it un-Madison, it just ruined the whole story they were telling throughout the show. I was confused and disappointed. -Crown...Ok, yes, they sound great. Fine. But in my opinion, the musical book didn't sound challenging enough. Again, more things to be solved next year, and they performed what they had great. -SCV's show design as a whole.
  5. Bluecoats 05 Crown 05 VK 87, 88, 92 Suncoast 88 Freelancers 91
  6. I wonder what it would be like if the corps used BOTH black and white uniforms during the show? Or if they did white in front, black in back?
  7. I agree that the corps got better, and I also think that, although indeed they had improved tremendously and were much better, it was too little too late for SCV.
  8. Star 93 gets my vote, and BD 95 and SCV 00 get honorable mentions.
  9. Star 1993 BD 1995 Phantom 1996 Cavaliers 2000 Cadets 1998 SCV 2000 Bluecoats 2005
  10. SCV 84's Fanfare and Allegro and Cadets 83's Rocky Point over Cadets 03 anyday.
  11. 04 BD was Scott Dean and Ryan Darke. I go to school with Ryan down here at CSULB...amazing trumpet player.
  12. I don't think so. Even though they've had a lot of staff leave, the new staff they're getting are great. It's always possible that they won't but I don't think it'll happen.
  13. I don't think they were undefeated but they'd been pretty strong all season. The same can be said for Blue Devils 1995 and 1998. 1993 Star only lost 2 or 3 times in the season... 1987 Vanguard and 1988 BD were both undefeated going into Championships and then both lost at each.
