Keeping the D3 representation in Finals down to just the 3 medalists.

Academy/Spartans will be a battle for the rest of the season. I'm glad the 2 have met up and real comparisons can now be seen. My guess for the next 3 is Memphis, Surf, Teal in that order. OT, what a tour for Memphis this year. They've been out since 6/20! D1 prep maybe? Really read my post, and realize I may not be clear. This is for this night only. OC, ECJ, BDB will all be in the mix as well. The top 5 of D2 is far from settled.

The D2s all seem to have come up from their last score, at this show. Jackson, TN scores had the west/midwest scores come down, but the east coast Corps did rise. Happens every year. Rather than "West coast score inflation", I feel that East coast judges start pretty conservative. In the end they all meet up and scores always level out. Still seems to surprise many when it happens.

Enjoy the trip and the company. I felt Div2/3 was THE show last season, and it seems that will pale in comparison to this season. How cool, probably the closest competition in several seasons for all of the medals, and they're in the big venue. I hope the fans that generally skip Div2/3 catch the show. We can always use a bigger fanbase.

I can live with pit-only amps. Won't say I prefer them, but have learned to live with them. Cannot for the life of me remember the Corps, but last season one of the D1 corps had a squeaky chair for the timpanist. EVERY squeak came through loud and clear. It was like the rattle in a car. I missed the rest of their show.

I can't imagine Academy not making Finals. They are clearly an upper tier Corps in Div 2, and it is difficult for a Div 2 Corps not make it to finals. I've never doubted or questioned their talent. I've just never seen DCI crown a Champion in June, and didn't think I was seeing it this year, but I think it is clear that Arizona will enjoy their greatest success to date in DCI. The future for all of Div 2 is getting brighter. For my $$, and I went to both finals last year, the best bang for your buck is Div 2/3 Finals. Anything can and, usually does, happen. Almost forgot, far fewer amps and vocals.

Exactly right. Nothing happened last night. Nothing at all. The truth is, and has been from the beginning of the season, that the Corps that performs the best on the 12th will be declared the Champions. Which is great news for the Corps and the fans.

Which wasn't all of the Corps at Jackson. There has been talk of "all" scores dropping, when in fact, at least one corps had a season high. Seems the judges didn't think all had to come down, but did indeed see the need to close the gap between corps that finally met.

Honest question, and nothing more than that. Please take at face value. If they're that good, why does it take until the closer for you see it? My favorite shows always have me on the edge of my seat from the beginning. PR's show this season is one example.

Regardless of show design or what they are handed, the Cadet WILL execute and bring the best out of any show. They will leave it all on the field.

Hey Rob, I was out for a short trip, but am home for the remainder of the season. The kids do have a good show again this year. Several other Corps have also brought their "A" game this season. Looks like a win for the the D2/3 fans, because this one won't be settled prior to finals, and the top 5 can easily finish in any order. I won't make it to Madison, but will be lurking here to stay on top of the happenings. Good luck. Dean

Thank you. I knew for a few weeks I may be back in time to catch their show, but didn't want to ruin the surprise. Pretty much a great gift for all of us. I wouldn't have traded places with anyone that evening.

Agreed. Last season seemed to be a building year for OC, with many new members. Those that returned this year are vets and the scores seem to reflect that. Gonna be a great season for D2/3 fans.

How many of the other staffs yell something that is an element of the show? Encouragement? Sure. Part of the show? No, the staff doesn't belong there. Its up to the Corps at that point.

Think you may be a bit hypersensitive. Haven't seen many (any?) posts saying Academy couldn't win. Have seen plenty of posts saying just don't crown them champions yet, which is entirely valid with most of the season left ahead. Ultimately what everyone should do though is stop feeding the trolls. Most of these Academy threads have been from members with less than a week of membership and less than 5 posts. Check the author of this one for instance.

I'm not surprised you don't think it is. Doesn't change much though. Your message was still "All other Corps are competing for 2nd". Don't think that belittles those Corps or their efforts? If not, you're pretty dense. As far as jumping out of the gate. Yes, as usual they were 1st out, and did well. Now that the East Coast Corps are out one other Corps has every bit as good of a start as Academy, with a 3rd very close to those two. Whoever wins in Madison will have to be "on", because it will be a battle to the end. Good luck to all of them. Hype your favorite Corps by all means, but in doing so when you belittle any of the other Corps, you're really just showing some immaturity.

If you aren't bright enough to setup for your warmup in a place other than the only road in and out, then you should expect to be asked to move.
