  1. Am I the only one whos stream suddenly stopped at the beginning of Surf's performance? Had been running since the beginning of the show, but it waited until Surf started to get interrupted... Took until halfway through to get it going again! The conspiracy nut in me says DCI did that on purpose to get more people to buy the pay-for stuff...... oh yeah, and cattle mutilations are up, as well..... Bummer.....
  2. I HAD been searching for the right words all summer............
  3. oooh oooh, I get it!!!! Venom....snakes...... "Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?" Indiana Jones
  4. I'm rooting for the Cavies, but it wouldn't break my heart to see Blooo take it this year. They have a very good, exciting, fun to watch show! Best ballad of the summer, IMO.
  5. That's a good point Maybe I should have said there was little interest at that point. Not by everyone, of course (lest I be crucified by the BD borg), but a lot of folks around ME weren't listening for scores after Coats, and were quickly packing up.
  6. Well, you really saw right through me, sir Typical response....total personal attack. I ask for someone to please explain something that is called OBVIOUS and instead you attack me personally. Instead (since you seem like an insider) why can't you explain the huge design difference?
  7. For what it's worth, I feel foolish for my part in all this. But it has been kinda fun..... Stopping now.
  8. Is this cross-examination? Because obviously, if any of the facts are mis-stated, the entire argument must be false. Seriously, are you an attorney? The reason I ask is, I just spilled some McDonalds hot coffee in my lap, and I want to use the lawsuit proceeds to fund G7.
  9. OF COURSE they were talking about the middle of the show. Are you just trying to bait people? "Can't we all just get along?" Rodney King
  10. "I really not bad, I'm just drawn that way" Jessica Rabbit
  11. Ok then, fourth, but I was trying to be generous. Go Crown!
  12. I missed Scouts but they MAY have gotten some in-show feet... not sure. In not, they SHOULD have from the crowd reaction I heard. Definite feet for Cavies after trumpet trio. I, too, stood for all corps at the end of their shows.
  13. And you are entitled to it. But I disagree. I would LOVE to love the Blue Devils. There were my very first exposure to drum corps, and the first t-shirt I bought. They (usually) have a very friendly and knowledgeable fan base. They have, IMO, the BEST forum on the web. I WANT the BD MM, if they win, to be supported by the majority of the crowd. I WANT to cheer for them. I am a Cavie's fan, but wouldn't mind if BD beat them with a show I could get behind. From a lot of the posts I've read, this seems (to me) to be the majority opinion of most of the posts on this forum. On the other hand, as soon as someone suggests any issues regarding BD show design, the BD fans on this forum immediately go into personal attack mode, labeling those that disagree with them "haters". Why don't you try to educate us poor "haters"? Suggestion to all BD advocates: The VODs are up from Atlanta. The judges seem to agree there is a HUGE difference in show design. Give us a "BD Top 10 Reasons" this show is scoring so well. Relate those Top 10 reasons with actual references to the VOD from Atlanta. This should be easy for those that understand this HUGE difference. Don't take the easy way out by just saying "they are just better". Give us (me) specific examples of this obvious difference. I would really love to understand this show and support it. Help me and help your corps in the process. Perhaps I will skip the hot dog at Finals then.
  14. One thing that would help is to NOT block off the other side of the middle concourse. I was in section 113 and wanted to go to souvie-land, but had to cross the entire crowd to get there. Would have been much easier to allow people to go around the longer way.
  15. Dude, talk about jaded reality. Were YOU in Atlanta? If not, listen to the VOD on FN; compare the crowd reactions. If you don't see the difference, YOU are the one with jaded reality. No angles, JUST MY OPINION
  16. No, these are all MY OPINIONS. The fact I post them under my login makes them MY OPINION ONLY! I can't see how you can't get that! sheeesh back at ya! I WAS there at Atlanta, HAVE seen them live, DID see the audience reactions. I DID experience the "tepid" reaction of OVER +15000 "uneducated" (by YOUR definition) paying fans to the BD show DESIGN. Personally, I gave ALL the performing corps a standing ovation. The fact that you are so "touchy" about this indicates (to ME) you feel the truth in what I'm saying. I will be at Allentown and Final, and BD will be my hot dog corps.
  17. The judges are trying their best to apply the rules set forth in the guidelines. The fact the these guidelines force them to places scores so opposed to the majority opinion of the paying public (in my opinion) is what's wrong with the system (in my opinion). Shouldn't the "general effect" a show has on the crowd be factored in? Not the whole score, of course, but shouldn't it be considered as a factor in determining the design of the show? The difference in public opinion and judging criteria is (I think) going to do DCI, as an organization, more harm than good. It's fun to watch 2-5 duke it out, but a bit anti-climactic to have one corps, playing by the rule book, have it "locked up" so early. Kind of like watching the Yankees play the Orioles, but only if you really like baseball or are a fan of either team; otherwise, people tune out. If DCI wants to thrive and expand, it should foster true competition to make the product more exciting. I was at Atlanta, and after 2nd place was announced, a lot of people started leaving. There was absolutely no suspense. I'm sure this has an effect on the MM as well, and DCI is also doing them a dis-service by not acknowledging the reaction MM feel on the field. I'm certain the BD members feel a little disappointed (of course they won't ever say that in public) when they get "less than enthusiastic" response to their efforts, which is of course really not directed at THEM but at the show DESIGN and scoring criteria. Even if/when they win, they will have to carry that feeling with them whenever they look at their shiny DCI rings. This, to me, is a travesty DCI has perpetuated on these very hard working young men and woman. How should those that wish to effect change in scoring criteria voice their opinion without dis-respecting the MM? It's a little like in a war where the enemy will use civilians as "human shields" to prevent an attack on a strategic location. I'm afraid there might have to be some "collateral damage" inflicted in order to get the point to DCI.
  18. Just to jump in with my two cents. Everything that a person posts is their opinion. It doesn't matter what "evidence" is supplied with their post. The very act of posting under your personal login defines the information as the opinion of one person, and one person only. If I say "everyone hates the orange team, OF COURSE it is my opinion". If I say "the BD supporters on DCP are a very touchy group, OF COURSE it is my opinion". A post can be nothing BUT the posters opinion, no matter how it is worded. I don't grasp how so many intelligent people can't grasp that. Perhaps the grasp limitation is my own. But that's my opinion. I'm SO TIRED of having to type "but that's my opinion". They're ALL opinions. Sticks and stones, folks....
  19. I appreciate the at-show information. As long as it doesn't disturb anyone at the show, they should be able to do what they want.
  20. Cavies within a point of BD now....
