For someone just starting Ide reccomend 6 1/2 al. Common and probably obtainable for free if you ask around. For marching, Shilke 51D would be fine.

I havent decided my votes yet, but if they would offer a semi's of 89 BD I would vote for it. The bad incident with the final performance does not diminish the otherwise great sound of it played correctly.

When discussing the difference between the contra and sousa, the general conclusion if you have played both is not to play the sousa....at all.....ever again...
