  1. The answer is unequivocally no. My own story is pretty awful. The short of it is that during the 03' season, I joined a division III corps as a lead Euph player after graduating. A good friend of mine contracted an agressive form of cancer, and I bailed out to go see him when I heard things looked bad near the end of June. A few people in the corps said I just couldnt cut it, and I dont think thats completely fair, but at the end of the day I don't claim to have marched any more than I actually did. I spent the rest of the summer and some time after that being embarassed about the decision, which still bugs me a bit today. I wrote to a few corps directors in an email about rooking out and recieved some very nice responses and encouragement. As luck would have it, I found my current fiancee two days later, and that fell through. Some day I hope to join a senior corps and get back into it. I did love the activity. I don't know how senior corps people react to people such as me at this time however.
  2. I'm not enjoying how much I have had to agree with you lately ^0^ I have never hit the report button while I have been here, and to the best of my knowledge, it hasnt been hit at me.
  3. I was half kidding, forgot to add an appropriate smiley and was speaking of who has responded so far.
  4. Well, at least staff and former staff are one hundred percent united behind getting rid of CE. On the flip side, seems like its the first time Ive been able to agree with Dan, Greg, Whitedawn, and the other usual suspects at the same time.
  5. Current events was a big reason for me to come to this forum, especially since it occassionally beat the nightly news out of the starting gate. I use the other portions of the forum for information during the season on scores and show locations, but most of my interest here comes from CE. Looks like I'll be disappearing from here for the most part as well.
  6. Thanks anyway John, appreciate that it even has a low-fi capability at all.
  7. Howdy, After being forced onto dialup I have rediscovered how much the good old internet has changed graphics wise, and notice it takes me some time when my cache is cleared to use regular old dcp. At the advice of others, I am sometimes using the low-fi version, which however does not have posting ability. Is there any plan to add this for me and others, the bandwidth challenged? Thanks for your time and for maintaining this forum,
  8. Any news on the selections being played?
  9. Welcome to DCP, and thanks for playing in two of my favorite Scouts shows.
  10. So anyway, my nose shot out my soda and laymen around me are wondering why this is funny ^0^
  11. I love the coats, but I will NEVER yay for Ohio. Someone bring a few corps to Michigan ^0^
  12. Im waiting for more, only seen one part of this and always seem to miss the others.
  13. It might be immature, unprofessional, etc- but the man called it how he saw it (just like they did apparently). Dont think any sort of sanction is necessary, save the one that might occur if some judges happen to read his blog-sorry to the corps on that note. I do grin at the idea of putting them on first a few nights ^0^
  14. I just moved away from Kalamazoo and more towards Battle Creek, so I guess bonus for me.
  15. Oh come on pop, not a "real div 1 corps" ^0^
  16. I have a few recordings of Cadets 03', somewhere midseason the show was probably over a minute longer than at finals, though tempo changes probably accounted for it. I liked that style better than the finals, especially with more horn and LESS pit in the closer.
  17. In a way I agree with this observation, and the one about them having all good sections but no one caring. BK is a good corps, their record speaks for itself, but being good does not always make you popular. They need a name recognition that goes beyond dots, and that will mean finding the music style, or movement style, that is loved by the crowds of laymen and catapults them on that fan map. I took a friend to see a couple shows who had never been to one, and while he remembered BK and that they were good, the Colts and Madison did things which he can specifically recall. That is generally how I feel about BK, I know they are good at what they do, but its not always provacative enough for me to remember it. And I LIKED the Star Trek show! ^0^
  18. This morning I should have left about a half hour before I did, but I started listening to some scouts recordings and wound up doing that for about 45 minutes, couldnt get myself to stop. It isnt as if I listen to drum corps every day but over time if I have a deficiency I must satiate the hunger. Must have been a scouts day, couldnt listen to anyone else either.
  19. Not being able to see live the corps of the 70's and 80's that I hear so much about. When I watch them on video I know that can never do them justice and I tend to agree with the elders that say it was a more exciting activity at that time.
